3D Printing.. where you guys at!!!

they cheap, they work well, they print nice, huge aftermarket support base, should i continue?

I have an ender3 and a cr10s pro, a custom built printer, an geeetech i3 pro w, 3dprintingstore i3, tronxy x1, take a guess which 2 printers has given me the least ammount of trouble?

For someone just starting out in 3d printing, a creality machine is the way to go, least ammount of hassle to get into the hobby, and buying an ender3 for example, you up and printing with in an hour, even if you know nothing about 3d printing
Okay fair, thanks for the explanation!
No need to go on...

Personally, the hassles are part of the fun and then it also gives one a decent amount of experience for other projects.

I don't quite get the hype around Creality printers...
Anyone want to explain?

Given I have built my own 3D printer, I might be missing the point completely...
I bought one last year black friday, and still going strong with minimal issues. I chose the Ender 3 because of the insane after market support and community behind the printer. Had a few teething issues and help was super easy to find.

I had no real idea of what I was getting into, and happy I got a printer that had minimal issues before I could decent prints. Minimum patience was required.

Also not too sure what printer you built, but I've also had a home built one like 4 years ago and it cost so much more than an Ender and it was less than half the quality.

I also agree building is half the fun but now that I got that itch scratched I just want to print 2 things at once.

Prusa-based, P3 steel
P3Steel - RepRap, that's what the mainframe looks like, more specifically the Toolson edtn.

I agree it cost way more than an Ender, probably 1.5 times more over the years, but I have had this one for 5 years and only recently went to the SKR V1.3 with TMC2209s.

One thing where a home built printer loses every time is looks...

So.... Finally got my ender 3 v2 in the cabinet I built, got some nice prints, the men were smoothed with acetone. Overall I think not too bad!

I know you said you have it inside a cabinet but how is the sound? Mine is bloody loud! I believe it's the power supply revving up to a million RPM...

Pretty frustrating as it's in a room where I work and my Ender 3 Pro isn't nearly as loud. I even lifted the printer mid print to raise it up for more air to enter the bottom but still stupidly loud.

With that being said it's been printing non-stop for 60 hours and not a blemish in sight!

30 more hours and I can figure out something... Got any ideas?

Thanks man but I am referring to the Ender V2 which already has silent stepper motor drivers and its near silent on the first couple of layers.

Once the PSU spins up though, it sounds like a fighter jet! [emoji574]

If you're only noticing the fan after the first couple layers, then it's likely the parts cooling fan that you're hearing. A replacement for which can be found in dirko.van.schalkwyk's post. The Ender 3 V2 does have the silent stepper drivers, but probably has the same cheapish Creality fans.

I printed the psu fan shroud and feet vibration stabilizers and knocked of a few dB overall...

Think I'm around 58db now from 67db.

It's in our day room, a lot quieter than when its outside the enclosure. I would happily say putting it in the enclosure has halved the noise. The only noise is the Hotend fan and the PSU. Very happy with it on my side!

Okay, time for a second printer. Anyone buy a Ender 3 on sale and want to flog it?[emoji2960][emoji2960]

4 things.
1. How can I combat my bed adhesion issues on my ender 3 V2? I am printing with PLA at stock input values (have increased to 75 degrees C) sometimes when I do a "long" print I come back to find a loose and failed thread. How can I fix this?

2. Where can I get cheap filaments in CPT?

3. Is the BL touch worth it?

and finally 4. How do I combat the hydration of my filaments? I have seen videos of people buying dehumidifiers or air tight plastic containers. I've just lost a whole role to hydrating filament (I think).
