3D Printing.. where you guys at!!!

Would guys be willing to setup a page to share their artwork files so others can use and save time on drawing ?

If anyone is selling a printer I would be keen, i3 Prusa or i3 Wahao or so on. Ultimate beginner [emoji14]

With regards to sharing artwork; if you're talking about files, there are so many already available that you may as well just upload to Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory or Pinshape. :)

Thingiverse is usually my goto site. Just about everything I ever wanted I got form there.
Also have uploaded one or two of my own models , and even got a few tips as a nice little thank you from some members.

I started out with a Monoprice Mini, but its essentially the same as the Wanhao that @Shampoo1014 mentioned above. From there got a CR10 mini and will probably stick with it until I think I can tackle a resin printer.

Good morning all.
My desktop cnc machine coming together.
ABS 40% infill.

:) Yes Valiente I know. The only thing that I had near me on Saturday afternoon. Just orders some 3 and 6mm flat and bullnose cutters from FEW this morning.
Thanks for the link, looks good. I will order some.

So . CP-01 , now you can 3D print , laser engrave and CNC on one printer.

Hi all, I am currently trying to source HIPS in SA, but there seems to be a shortage.
Upgrading to a dual extruder in the next few days...

Has anyone bought from these guys:
3Drone.co.za

?
Thanks

I bought from them early last year. Never heard of them so decided to phone and got hold of the owner. Really great guy, and he put my worries at ease. Bought my ender 3 and some filament through them and baiscally got next day delivery to Durban. Haven't bought from them since as I work 50m from DIY electronics but my experience was really good.

You can try Mavcon (google em). I know the owner and he's a really good guy, can vouch.
Filament quality is decent and he has a huge range.

Ah, awesome, thanks!
I have only really bought from 3D and DIY, hence I was asking.

Hi all, so received the filament within 2 days from Mavcon...

So another question now, when using a dual extruder on the ramps 1.4 board, what do you use to control the layer cooling fan?
I don't have the fan extender board, but I can build something.
Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I run the cooling fans at 100% after layer 5, once good adhesion has been achieved, any reason why I couldn't just run them on DC for now?
I am printing with PETG...

Thanks

Anyone have ideas for a controller board for a rep-rap style 3D printer?
MKS v1.3 at 3D printing store - is this a decent board?

My current one is having issues with it's memory, and USB interfaces.
Ramps 1.4 and Arduino Mega 2560, a bit old school.

Everything was working fine this morning, tried printing this afternoon, weird temperature curves.
Eg: In S3D, I set the temp to 255 to print PETG, it acknowledges that the 'set' temp is 255, but doesn't power the mosfets to increase the extruder temps, eventually resulting in a extruder heating failed.
Just for reference, these are brand-new thermistors and heater cartridges. It worked fine until the board started "forgetting instructions", they are also able to reach and read accurate temps properly.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!!
I really need this printer going by the end of the week.

Many thanks.

Also have my eye on this, SKR V1.3, 60% of the price of the MKS 1.3 when you factor in stepper drivers, but I have 6 of those already...

Edit, added the link.

My CR10s Pro v2 arrived yesterday :D

Cant wait to test it out

Also set up 2 of the ender 3 pros i bought and i am super impressed by the quality of prints, so far i dont think any of my other non resin printers can print the quality of these ender 3 pros. I mean i have printers that cost a bunch times more and they might move to back up printers haha

*chants* one of us, one of us, one of us....

Nice Man, many happy hours of printing!
Just had my board go on my DIY printer, upgraded to 32 Bit.

If you need any help, I'm sure most of us will have some knowledge.

Go back a few pages and look for the Roguemat printing guide, really really helps.

Good luck with build.

Thanks dude! I'm super excited. So we assembled the printer last night with some beers.
I am delighted to present my first 3D print ever;

That quality is really good, what filament are you using?
It's too neat for ABS, and not stringy enough for PETG...

Life will never be the same😂, I often find myself asking how I did it without one.

PLA sample that came in the box. ;)

Printing some recommended upgrades now.

Hey gents,

I’m in need of some advice. Trying to print a case for my apple pencil and ever since I started I’ve been getting gaps in the cylinder and strange artifacts. Printing at 40mm/s and 0.16 layer height, prints just before this one has been stringy but overall good.

Selling my zonestar z8 dual mixed extruder.
Any 1 interested pm me.

So these horrible prints are a result of me accidentally snipping the tip of my nozzle. New nozzle in and prints are looking great again Lesson learned.

However, I am now getting these strange 'blobs' whenever al new layer is started. I can see the tiny 'blob' as soon as the hotend touches the bed or bottom layer. Thoughts?

I am printing at 0.2 layer height, 1.2mm wall thickness at 205degrees and 50mm/s.

Generic (possible) solutions for a generic problem - I have no experience on that particular printer so can't comment on any printer specific mods you can do to get better extrusion or cooling.

I assume it's still PLA, the bubble's are generally from a high water content in the filament.

So PLA is hygroscopic, absorbs excess moisture and then when you print you will sometimes hear a small "pop" or you will get small filament bubbles.
Pop it in the oven at 50*c for 4 to 6 hours.

Alternatively if it's on every corner, your printer is pushing out too much filament, there is a coast setting, set coast to approximately 0.60mm, it will then coast for the last 0.60mm instead of using the extruder motor to push filament through.

As listed above, that is a good guide too.
