So as CUD dictactes, I can't seem to find a home office setup that i'm 100% happy with

Setup 1 all in 1080p
2 27's in landscape
1 24 in Portrait

Setup 2
2 28's in 4k

Setup 1 was 80-90% there. Portrait mode helped immensely with long SQL and Linux scripting. Older model monitor with thick bezels detracted a bit
Setup 2 was a bit meh. 4k res was great for real estate but just didn't fit well with me for some reason

Now time for Setup 3

Option 1 is a 34" Ultrawide most probably the Philips with KVM and USB-C with possibly a 24" or 27" in portrait mode
Option 2 is a 49" Ultrawide, Samsung LC49HG90 from Digital Experience at a shade under 20k

Any other coders/BI types/general Excel and office types working on an Ultrawide daily?
Not particularly worried about gaming features...

Get yourself this Phillips monitor as the vertical resolution is better than with the Samsung LC49HG90

Samsung 3880 x 1080 = 4 190 400 pixels
vs
Phillips 3440 x 1440 = 4 953 600 pixels = 18% more screen real-estate

With Desktop PowerToys you can set up "zones" and snap Windows to these zones with ease.

I just upgraded to 49" and it is a great productivity upgrade from the 32" that I had.

I needed a dual monitor setup but wanted to avoid extra cables and the split in the middle.

Get the 1000R curved screen so that your neck does not take strain.

Use this tool to visualize screen sizes (does not take resolution into account but is great for comparing physical size)

DisplayWars

I also find the 1440p to be a much better sweet spot on these monitors than a 1080p or 4k(2160p)
