3060 = 2070/1080Ti, but better because DLSS?

I'm shopping for something to replace my 1060 6GB as it's not keeping up with my 1440p 144hz monitor.
Right now I'm playing mostly eSports titles but I'm keen on the new Far Cry, Battlefield...

The 3060 seems about on par with the 2060 Super/2070, both in performance (depending on the game) and Carb pricing.
Surely the 3060 would be superior overall because of muuch better DLSS (2.0)?

Is DLSS 2.0 a significant overall value benefit over the 2070? Or should I be looking at the two cards as equals?

Or should I just get a 1080Ti for the same money and forget about DLSS for now?

Edit - I was mistaken. Turing supports DLSS 2.0, I just can't find performance numbers compared to Ampere.
I know Ampere handles raytracing better than Turing does at least...

DLSS 2.0 is better than 1.0. But first check if the games you want to play support DLSS 2.0.

Overall given similar FPS I would always tend toward the newer card. Newer tech, longer support, etc.

But even 3060s are still fairly overpriced compared to MSRP.

I would say the bigger advantage is the improved RTX for titles that support it.
DLSS is better, sure, but with AMD's variant of it being more easily implement and more widely supported (even on non AMD cards), DLSS just isn't that much of a feature to focus on, at least not on the 3060 which will render the same on DLSS as AMD's thing.

(this is from a 3060ti, but same same)

And according to the vid above it seems like FidelityFX runs faster (higher fps) than DLSS.

As far as i understand it. Only in ray tracing titles. In dlss only they should gain the same performance as only the actual ray tracing cores are improved

When its financially viable I will also upgrade from a 1080 ti but for now I don't see how the 3060ti could beat it.
Most bench marks I've seen so far put them within 5-7% of my card and that does not justify an upgrade - but for you even the 3060 will be a huge leap! (save the extra cash and maybe just go the 10k 3060 route)

With the 2070 super at the same price as the 3060 i wouldn't recommended the 3060 honestly

Not promoting here but I'm even selling one with 14 months warranty for 10k? They do exist so it's not that difficult, i think a lot of people are not selling due to the market being as crazy as it is.

The 2 cards perform within 8-12% of each other and with that in mind I would still go for a 3060 as the warranty duration is longer (I'm not saying things will go wrong, its just I expect it to go wrong)

Your card is calling me - did X-tech take it?
I'm reeeally tempted but when I can get a brand new 3060 for similar money it's a tough call.

Just be like me, started with 1060 3gb, then within 1.5year period up graded to 1070 then 1070ti then 1080 then 1080ti then 3060 then 6700xt now on 6800 :ROFLMAO:. Who can guess my next upgrade...

I went RX 470 to 480 to 580 to 5500 XT to 1070 to 2060 to 6600 XT (back when cards were cheaper). I liked the DLSS option that the 2060 had but decided to ditch RTX and go AMD 6000 next. Kinda banking on their version starting to compete with DLSS 2 as the pure rasterization performance seemed closer to the 3060 Ti for less money than a 3060.

He did not take it but it is currently on hold for someone lol

I would also be leaving towards the new card rather then the older one. price on the older card is staying high as they don't have lhr models and prices is falling an most of the lhr cards but can't say for how long. just look at the 3060 they where close the the 17k now they around 10k.

I wouldn't really bother with the older cards if you just looking at gaming. got a 3060 ti a few days ago and not loving how it looks in my case as it looks too small. so now wanna go for the 3fan one to get same size as my 1080 and but the new card is definitly much better for me though performance wize
