This SP model has over the standard model:
Quickshifter/autoblipper
Ohlins Smart Electronic Control Suspension
Brembo brakes
Titanium fuel tank
Lightweight gold coloured wheels

The quickshifter is so smooth and the titanium fuel tank is slimmer making it feel more agile and fun to ride.
The electronic suspension soaks up all the little bumps in our roads, but still retaining its sports bike road holding. This is done by
pre-selected suspension settings or you can define your own for damping/rebound & compression.
It has Bosch cornering ABS & cornering traction control for safe riding.
Configurable power levels, traction control, engine braking and suspension settings via fast, fun & safe or define your own.

The CBR is mechanically perfect. If you find a fault with it, i will repair it as it has a R100000 warranty with it, not just for specific components.

Bike is still financed, so ease of mind as its not stolen or recovered etc. Bank will provide papers etc. and financing can be arranged.

I am not selling for financial reasons; so please, no silly offers or tyre kickers.

To test drive, full amount of R250000 to be paid. My insurance does not cover unknown person riding the bike, hence the upfront amount.
If you decide not to purchase, full amount will be refunded minus R10000 for the test ride.

FYI

You must be taking the piss with your terms.

Surely you're taking the piss.
I do not want joy riders, only serious buyers. I'm not a dealer.
My insurance does not cover arbitrary persons riding my bike. Why must I carry that risk?
As for bikes, one little slip up is always costly!

I doubt the scum that hang about Gumtree is the demographic you're after. You're the one likely to be taken for a ride...excuse the pun. Perhaps try autotrader or a forum like ThinkBike if you haven't already.

R10k and the full payment upfront is still an insane ask IMHO.

Good luck

Thank you.
I will try ThinkBike.

Insanity is accepting your word as my guarantee. I rather accept your cash.

I'm not a dealer. I don't give out test rides. I don't entertain tyre kickers.
The guy/gal who would want to purchase this bike would have already drove the equivalent Honda, BMW, Ducati, Kawa etc.
He/she would know what they want already.
I'm after that person.
If you are not that person, they are apparently plenty other bikers you can test ride from.

Who buys a car/bike without a test drive of the actual car/bike before they part with their money?

Would you do what you asking?

I am not saying no test ride.

Example:

I recently just sold my BMW. The guy came out, started it and test drove drove it. I did not have a problem with it as it is insured fully if another non noted person drives it.

For the bikes I have previously owned, I insured it with 2 companies. Both of which insisted any additional driver be nominated on the policy.
Now, if during the test ride, the bike is damaged; it is I who is left short changed. Hence the full amount prior to a test ride.

Another example:

I'm hoping to find a decent M3 or RS5 (997 might be a bit out of my reach). I have driven a BMW but not the Audi. I'm not going to lie to somebody with a test ride just to make sure i can do a comparative review for myself. But I will find an example at a dealer and test ride.
If I already know what I want, I will go look for it and get it.

This guy is correct in charging the full amount . ( But he could just say no test drives )

Yes is he correct ? ill share two stories

* When i was selling my Seat turbo in 2010 (The car was low mileage and still like new no issues) I even put new tyres . Car was sold with full cor and AA test .
All buyers wanted to take my car for a test drive . But believe it or not all of them had no cash and could not get finance to buy my car ...

* My Cousins friend was selling a collectors item . BMW 325is the model that has some aluminum panels .
Low mileage , Mint condition , Full service history from BMW, Was parked in garage .

All the buyers wanted to test drive this car. One guy test drove this car and told them he wants to buy the car but needs to check how it goes on the road .

Around a bend he rev the car and put his foot down and lost control . Car was finished .

The guy never paid a cent for the car .... after the accident

I somewhat disagree with the test ride thing.

I have always test ridden bikes before purchase, new or second hand.
I have also decided not to purchase a bike because it was clearly not 100%.
Just like you think people may be reckless with your bike it isn't unreasonable for a buyer to think you are trying to flog a problem bike.
BUT with all that being said, I know what kind of bike that is and I reckon most people interested in such a bike would simply understand if you just straight up said "no joyrides".
No need to say full price deposit - R10k , That's just being cocky in my opinion.
Either way, Nice bike and good luck.

GLWS that is very very very nice bike.

Hope she finds a good home.

Nice bike dude. I 100% get where you are coming from.

The condition and pedigree of some bikes does not require a test drive in my opinion. As for OP's bike, it might be one of them... and it's the buyers prerogative to allow a test drive or not.

The SP isn't your average, throw around bike. Your bike, your terms. But ye, in future just gooi a 'No test drive'.

I bought my 1299 without a test drive, because the owner does not allow test drives on his Ducati's. Maybe I'm just dumb for doing it that way, but the mileage and condition of the bike spoke for itself. (Not that I put Honda and Ducati in the same category.... ;) )

folks we need to calm down.
Cash up front is the owner's prerogative given the recent spate of joy ride thefts happening in and around Gauteng.
VERY few dealers offer test rides these days, due to security and insurance concerns.
If you are a serious buyer, respect the seller's wishes. otherwise I would recommend we move along.
If said bike has a full service history, speak to the servicing agent, if they cant vouch, move away.
NO use roasting a guy offloading a very expensive machine, in what is a fairly hostile and dangerous market right now.
