I checked this and It looks like although the first registration was Feb 2016 the motor plan has a start date of June 2015. Not sure why or if this is correct but would rather just say it how it is than someone have a surprise later. - Also price drop and added motorite quote

Also thinking of selling but have extended the motorplan till 2020.

Read something a while ago about BMW dealers also doing this. It has something to do with their sales numbers, so they will "sell" a car to themselves which then starts the motor plan, but the car sits on the showroom floor until it gets sold to a pubic member. Was a while back so I'm fuzzy on the details, but that is the gist of it.

Shouldn't the dealer then inform the buyer? so they don't get a nasty surprise afterwards.
 
Yep, that's exactly what they do. Normally the dealership will offer you a discount to extend in that case.
