Curious what you want it for. Retro gaming? Ah the good old days when the rich kid rocked the 21 inch crt monster 50kg screen at the lan! :)

Nice, pls send pics once completed

We'll see when it's done :) CPU will probably be my old Celeron 300A which does a solid 504 MHz, but given the amount of 3D power (Voodoo SLI) I might look at a Pentium 3 on my Gigabyte GA-60XET. It'll be paired up with an Audigy sound card - or maybe a Sound Blaster 16.

Bump - nobody has a monitor to dump? :(

@Oj0 If your down at South coast over the holidays, I saw some great flat crt's at A-Z Pawnshop in Ramsgate for R50 each.

Nice. I've been wanting to do this for ages myself (holding onto my CRT for that very reason). Just have no space to set it up.

You gonna be running 98SE?

Technically XP can handle all retro titles as well as earlier OSs so I thought you might go with that despite it being a retro build. Or alternatively you might go back all the way to 95 so you can have access to the original Hover (not that it doesn't work on later OSs).
So I don't consider the question that silly :p

Have you seen XP chug along on a Pentium II with 192-256 MB RAM? :(

No I haven't, but I imagine it would do a whole lot better on a 800Mhz P3 with 512MB?

I know it didn't do too poorly on a friend's overclocked Celeron (I think the clock was only around 560Mhz)

I have a 19 inch. Will check model nr and link it

Have a look at your nearest hospice. I get some of my retro stuff there, especially games :D
