Not really.
VA's contrast means little outside of gaming. In fact I'd say my VA's appeared to have lower contrast than my IPS and less bang factor. The difference comes in when gaming because you get greater depth perception on the VA/you can more easily tell what's behind and in front of another thing. On IPS by comparison everything just looks amazing and sort of melds together into a painting.
That said now that TN has just about been laid to rest it seems IPS is what you want if you want less ghosting because VA apparently has more. In my experience it's all much of a muchness in that field and depends mostly on whether you have the gamma/contrast dialed in correctly though I have yet to experience a new nano-IPS monitor which may shift the the advantage back to IPS.
Also with IPS viewing angle is completely a thing of the past whereas on VA it's much better than TN but still present, especially if the monitor is slightly above or below your direct line of sight. Not so much left right but far more noticeable up/down.
Lastly IPS may have lower contrast but it's colour accuracy is far higher than most VA's.
Since you are talking about work foremost IPS has one other advantage as most of them are still flat panels whereas the VAs are all curved and you really don't want a curved monitor for productivity. It's ok at 32" but that's outside your budget (at least those with a relaxed 1800R curve) but you definitely don't want a curved 27" for even the slightest bit of work.
So I guess for you IPS takes it.
Looking at Wootware's current stock I can't see a single monitor I would recommend to you.
This one is coming into stock in a month and would be perfect though.
