Deal Thread URL: [Trade] - MSI RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO for specific AIB 5700XT/1080Ti + R2500 | Nvidia
Seller: @AffectFPS
Buyer: @WildePrawn
Description of Bad Deal:

Let me preface this by saying I didn't want to make this thread and I really wanted to give the seller/trader the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I can no longer do that. Here goes nothing.

I put my 2080 up for trade and I decide to trade with the above mentioned as we lived reasonably close by. He was very nice and was willing to meet me at a convenient meeting point. On the afternoon before commencing with the trade I thought to make sure there was warranty on the card. The seller offered personal warranty for I think 2 months. Whatever arbitrary period didn't matter to me, I stated I'd only be happy with manufacturer warranty. He then goes on to state that the card is a year and a half old and that it has 2 and a half years left as the box states 4 years. He then goes on to claim he's a reseller and that he's dealt with suppliers before. As well as the fact he'd be happy to help me send the card off should anything go south. From the WhatsApps it is quite obvious that the seller was adamant that there was warranty on the card and he specifically told me I have no reason to worry. Boy oh boy was I surprised to find out from the PREVIOUS TWO OWNERS that not only did the card not have warranty as it was purchased overseas, but also the seller who gave WildePrawn the card literally stated to him before their trade that the card had no warranty and WildePrawn quite literally requested personal warranty as he was quite clear on the fact there was no warranty. This all was obviously unbeknownst to me before the trade. The only reason I got in contact with the previous owner of the card was because I wanted to ask something about the card not being able to run at any clock offset whatsoever. By the way I was told by WildePrawn that he didn't know about the OC thing and that he doesn't try to OC and I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I guess not every card is supposed to OC right?

Anyway the brunt of the issue stems from the fact that upon contacting the seller after the deal had concluded where he finally admitted I had to register the card with AORUS and pretty much admitted that he sold me the card with his own belief that the AORUS warranty was valid (even though both owners before him stated there was none), I tried to register the card for warranty as suggested by the seller and low and behold I need a receipt and a date of purchase. Upon which the original seller of the card in 2018 informs me the card was bought from an American who has the necessary documentation (basically I have no way of registering it), by this point I decided I had to open a thread as the seller clearly had no way of knowing the card could be sent to AORUS. He simply assumed it would sort itself out and left the onus on me the buyer. Usually I'd say whatever it's my fault as I have low self esteem. But I have so many messages from the seller reassuring me that this warranty with AORUS should be valid before and after the trade that surely I can't be totally to blame for my ignorance. Perhaps I should no longer purchase GPUs without seeing a receipt. Eish.

Mods please advise and I'd be happy to provide chat evidence as well as screenshots from the previous owner etc. should he permit it. If it's concluded that I'm an idiot please feel free to erase this thread and I'll move on with my life and even apologise to Prawn for getting him involved in a bad deals thread. But if I'm correct in that I've been deceived I only think it's fair we reverse this transaction. By the way the seller might be overseas at this time.
