Forza Horizon 3

I did some deeper digging. Apparently the devs fucked up the forceback code and it can’t be fixed without a re-write. I still think this game would be epic on a wheel. I have FF in the offroad areas and it feels superb. Hoping FH4 fixes this. Gonna jam FH3 on controller though.

Turn10 has learned a lot about PCs, Motorsport 7 showed that, so I'm sure FH4 will be nigh flawless.

Either that or it will be another GPU generation killer I guess. This game forced 100s, 1000s of people, like me, away from 7 and 9 series GPUs to 10-series or red team. Crash-happy VRAM slurping bastard that it was (on newer drivers, ironically pre-release unoptimised drivers were more stable...just).

Lol. Yeah the FF in Motorsport 7 is superb. The game is great. This is the first time I've played any Forza games. Wish I had done so earlier I guess. I also have high hopes for FH4 - top of my list is HDR and proper wheel support (with FF) like Motorsport 7.

I purchased Forza 6 for R260 on Loot last week. I figured that it's cheap and if I like the game, I'll upgrade to FH3.

Except they're different games. The Motorsport series is a circuit racer ala TOCA, GRID, SHIFT, FIA-GTR, Project Cars, Arsetto Corsa, rFactor. More in the direction of Sims in other words.

The Horizon series is open world racing with closed circuits spawning in those environs when events are started. More like recent NFSs, FUEL and The Crew. More Arcadey.

I know but I don't want to commit to R1000 and an Xbox Live sub if I don't like the dynamics of the game. I also ordered Project Cars (1) on the cheap.

I used to be a huge GT fan back when I had a Playstation.

Then I think you'll like the Motorsport series a lot more than Horizon.

In other words don't upgrade to Horizon later on, upgrade to Motorsport 7 instead.

So I fired up Forza 6 last night, chose the RX7 (classic) and won a Bugatti Veyron. The dynamics are amazing. Loving the GT-esk feel but more up to date dynamics.

Edit: hitting a water patch at 200mph in the Bugatti and aqua planing is decking scary.

Well thought I'd try FH3 this evening. Seems the devs have abandoned it. Tried one of the forzathon events, got a whole lot of achievements for past events like January 5th etc. But couldn't unlock the ones listed today.

This is still good, any of the carbies still play, we should do a meet and some drags
