Thought I'd finally jump on the band wagon and create a music thread. Whilst I absolutely love my metal, I just feel myself getting more into the folk/bluegrass etc etc scene. SO HERE IS THE THREAD!!!

Let us start it off with one of my favourite. A Finnish band, Steve n' Seagulls

And I will add a few more, starting with my absolute favourite band, The Dead South (prior to the changes in the band)

ALSO, I am making a rule. First person to post ANY Mumford can go elsewhere XD. Lets do some proper non-pop stuff please?

Here is a nice scottish-style folk ballad. Must reduce the amount of redneck in this thread.

Lol Mumford are a joke. @BARGUILD as much as you might try, you'll keep slipping away from metal. That's what's been happening to me. I keep a few core bands of metal around, but nothing new.

Anywho, don't know if it fits, but You+Me is great. The girl in the band is called Alicia something (also goes by the name Pink) and the guy in there will be known as Dallas Green (or the guy from Alexisonfire and that other indie band he had.) Let me know what you think.

Checked em out. Definitely sick!!!

Let us add some more non-meme music xD

Whilst these guys are definitely walking the line with regards to 'folksy', they still somewhat fit. Love the guys voice!

That is pretty cool.

As a side note, the only vague redneck in this thread is Nathaniel Rateliff. Dead South is Canuck af and Steven n' Seagulls is Finnish XD. Then you get the disappointing memes as well

@BARGUILD this one though !!

Bluegrass is just solid mate :) Definitely love their stuff. They don't play together anymore unfortunately. The banjo player has been replaced (severe health issues with cancer and so he can't tour) and the cello player is apparently some bigshot engineer in Canada so he doesn't tour anymore. IMO, new banjo player is solid. New cello player sounds like he is grinding week old rye bread on a piece of chicken wire.

The lady is who the original banjo player modeled his style off of so I think she is solid. But the new banjo player seems to have trouble staying in time whilst live (which is the vast majority of their damn recordings anyway) which is a bit sloppy. And I know the style is supposed to be sloppy, but when you create the music (the originals) you learn the sloppiness and it is part of the song. When you come in and then have to learn the music, it can be a bit clinical and then if you are sloppy it does just sound sloppy. My personal take on it. Could just be overly critical I guess.
