Well Evetech have stock coming.
Price: R6,499.00

Not sure how I feel about that. It's R1000.00 more than a stock 8700K and it's just a collectors item really.
Yes, it can hit 5ghz but you can do that with any 8700K really.

Anyone who actually owned an 8086 back in the day may feel like they want a piece of nostalgia but I don't.
Thoughts?

Nope, nothing nostalgic about it...

If they made a genuine 8086 that ran at 4.7GHz instead of 4.7MHz, now that would be something...

I wanted one but it's honestly not worth it my 8700K is already at 5.1Ghz and it doesn't look like the 8086K has any better head room

I heard K|NGP|N managed that on LN.

Apparently, it can do 5.3 with a few samples but that's still not a big enough reason for most people. The highend overclockers use the 7980XE anyway.

Aaaargh nightmares of a dual floppy system taking 6 mins to boot......

Wouldnt buy from Evetech though.

Sometimes the clock frequency doesn't tell the whole story
How many 8700K CPUs can do 5GHz Clock, 5GHz Uncore/NB and say 4400Mhz DDR4 at 1.275v?

Setting a 50X multiplier is rather simple and as many have said, 5G on 8700K is relatively guaranteed with enough voltage.
Even if Intel just binned 8700K silicon. They have eliminated the guess work when it comes to CPUs that can not only hit 5GHz core clock, but 5GHz Uncore/NB as well in tandem with that 5GHz CPU clock.

Won't matter perhaps for many people, but for those running 4GHz and higher memory, it sure does make a difference.

I wish Intel did more for their 40th anniversary of the 8086, quite frankly this is disappointing. That said, the binning helps in that if you buy 8086K it removes the guess work from doing 5/5/4G+ as it is near guaranteed to hit that. For instance using lower than VID I can do said 5/5/4G at 1.275v (this is a lesser than average 8086K sample) and if I want the gaming clock speed turn off HT and do 5.3/5/4.4 at 1.325v (default VID for this CPU is 1.35v)

Okay guys stop talking about this already, you're making me feel like I need it and I really don't lol. Was even looking into going the threadripper route just because..... unfortunately with the country as unstable as ever I'm just staring at all these stunning parts through a glass box right now.

Perhaps the better response is .. If you already have an 8700k running at 5Ghz across all cores, this really isn't an "upgrade" for you.

8 core is coming in the next 4 months so not much more to wait for.
No difference between 8700K and 9900K other than the additional cores and one other secret sauce, which I'm happy about actually.
Same secret sauce will be on 20 & 22 Core X299 CPUs

You don’t need this, you need a custom water loop ;)

Best CPU of the lot is 8C/8T I think. Performance wise it is faster (even in those weird productivity apps forum people talk about, but never use ) than 8700K
Two real additional cores seem to beat 4 virtual/logic ones.
In as far as overclocking goes I can safely say, both 8C/16T and 8c/8T CPUs put in some mighty clocks with good samples capable of 5.3GHz air up to 5.5GHz.
