    HDD brand purchase advice

Every brand had good and bad models. I hear sometimes there are good and bad batches of the very same model. I don't think Backblaze's experience with 16TB drives would be relevant to 2TB ones, just because it's the same brand. I think your best bet would be to get intel from one of Carb...

    Game movement

I'd try via symbolic links... Here is a guide - https://www.maketecheasier.com/create-symbolic-links-windows10/

Switching to an Android Tablet from an iPad Air 4

I think you are heading towards a disappointment there, Android tablets are not what they used to be. Many years of weak demand have forced the manufacturers to either stop making altogether, or making cheap models with inferior specs, barely good enough for casual browsing and watching movies...

What is a good printer/scanner for home use?

Don't know if the technology improved over the years, but ink-based printers have always been trouble for infrequent use back in the days. They were cheaper, but the ink inevitably dries up and clogs the tank and the head nozzles. Up to the point of either having to replace the head, or put a...

HDMI switch with higher frequency than 60Hz at 1080p

Another "devil in the details" that didn't occur to me before it was too late... I got myself an Aten CS692 (not cheap, well supported, decent brand) and it would just not detect some of my gaming keyboards and mice (Gamdias and AOC). May not be the case with the other KVM switches, but...

    HELP with my mouse!

Was too lazy to check the OP's particular model, but I'd say majority (of those cheap I buy :p) are soldered, and a few more expensive ones have mechanical replacements (like ROG Chakram). You'd need a (low power) soldering iron and a pump, and then a bit of soldering wire to solder the new one...

    HELP with my mouse!

OK, if it's an expensive mouse - you may want to try replacing the switches first... Failing that, WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner Fixed countless mice and keyboards: all combinations of no clicks, double-clicks, no roll, you name it... worked 9 times out of 10.

    Noob investment advice

The point I'm trying to make is that it feels like a high risk investment. Your capital essentially hinges on a random dude's ability to keep his job for 2 years.

    Noob investment advice

Sure, but isn't that's exactly what tanked the old African Bank back in the days? And I doubt these guys have the same sort of muscle when it comes to recovery...

    Noob investment advice

I was thinking whether to open my big mouth (and then put my foot in it :p) The way I see it, it's a classic peer-to-peer landing. The company providing the service may have the best intention, let's give them benefit of the doubt - it's too early to judge. They are a licensed financial...

    Cheapest Pivot or Vertical Monitor

You could look for one out of the box, but that would severely restrict your choices... Instead, if I were you, I would get a VESA compatible arm separately (around R600). Once you have the right arm, you could get any VESA compatible monitor (4 screw holes at the back). Unless I misunderstood...

Notebook suitable for Linux (Ubuntu) and audio/media use

That external DAC... connects via USB port? If so, I would first check if there is a Linux driver for it - and test if it indeed works. For testing purposes, you don't need a separate machine - you could make a bootable memory stick using e.g. UNetbootin. As far as the actual laptop, my...

Please help me with my firestick : (

If having the app is more important than security, may be easiest to sideload... Enable "allow apps from unknown sources" in Settings, download the APK from e.g. APKMirror, install...

Happened to have property on the coast, and can do work remotely - so thought why not, beats the Sandton traffic ;)
