Keyboard Nut Thread

WVepz3a.jpg

Oooh lalala! Thank @ctrlshiftesc_za for the swift service. Stellar as always.

So.. I did a thing. I replaced the Gateron brown on my spacebar (that had ever-so-slightly leaf ping), with a slightly heavier swtich -lubed redragon black, with what looks like one of those box cherry stems- and...

... it's the best damn change that I could possibly have made. The more resistance means I am bottoming out my spacebar less, so less noise while I type, and the linear means even less noise, smooth.

I don't know. For he first time I am wondering what a nice linear keyboard feels like, or... maybe I should just replace all my modifiers with linears, and and keep my alphas tactile.

:D Hope you are all having a great morning.

Tried a few other mods on Glorious' GOAT stabs - Tailor's mod (I didn't have nylon thread so I tried cotton and dental floss), Epsi, and PTFE tape.

So far Holee mod + lube (filled in with a syringe) is the best.

This makes me too uncomfortable to consider...

So the mods will have no feedback, but the alpha's will? Noooo.

Considering tkl cos more space = better performance = pro gaymer
But I use a the number pad quite often.
How do you guys get around this situation?

Build or buy a separate numpad.
Put to the side and use when needed.
Or just git gud on the number row.

If you have a custom, you can set the second layer to be numpad via GMK or VIA. So for eg. Fn + Q, Fn + W, etc.

Thought about this. But having an additional item on my desk that must be moved into position before I use it, does not work for me.
I have seen some cool builds though.

Yeah I hear you.
I don't use mine that often so it sits at the top edge of my mouse mat.

And yeah, some really kewl builds.

Weird how I don't want @Scarlet Scarab s post on this thread? Must be just me not wanting to look at sperm on a keyboard.
Also, that's Friday thread quality post right there, deserving of it's own post. "Hi, I am Scarlet Scarab, and I post pictures of sperm, possibly my own, on keyboards, knowing it's my best attempt at humour. Please appreciate it."

That would be a long thread title.

Ignoring the above post...

To anyone who was lucky enough to grab themselves a Ikki68. If you are looking for a few custom extras for your board, head over to my site and see if there is anything of interest. I will post a few pics sometime this weekend of a finished weight and badge.

Worth mfg

When is xvx v2 coming? I only got to get my v1's earlier this week. Super impressed dude. The fit is tight on my switches, but it was intended as a desk toy anyway.

You can definitely put me down for a v2. Will there be a stamp or marking that it is V2 on the unit itself somewhere?

You could also look at southpaw configured boards..with the numpad on the lefthand side

Wow, it's been a while since those shipped out but I'm glad you like it.

I am currently waiting on some samples from a finishing company down in the Cape. If the samples look as expected, I will send off a small batch for finishing and have v2 restocked in the next couple weeks. I haven't added any markings to the update but the new geometry and finishing of v2 will be different enough that you will easily be able to tell them apart.

Hey guys, don't know if this is the right thread... looking for a recommendation for a mechanical keyboard. I work as a systems developer, and also game. I like full length keyboards (numpad included). Wireless is a plus, but not essential.

Anyone got a recommendation for me? Don't know a lot about the market at present  thanks

buy my Corsair K70 so I can buy a TKL

Never knew that was a thing! Will check it out

There’s also the detachable option that can have a fixed numpad on either side like the Asus claymore or gigabyte k7 thunder TKL’s

For a compact hotswappable option look at Epomaker GK96S Southpaw on Amazon

Check ctrlshiftesc.co.za. Although, the only full size that they seem to have in stock right now is the Varmillo VA108M.

Alternatively, there's the keychron K4 or RK100 from Amazon that you could look at. Both are about 2k including shipping.
