Black Widow is the movie that covers the back story of the only female Avenger in the MCU, Black Widow. Golden star for you if you managed to figure that out yourself.

Please note that this is a very brief review and thus contains zero spoilers. Go watch the movie for that.

My main issues with the film are as follows.
The plot does not show us anything of true value. Watching this film answered no questions on the backstory of Black Widow, which is ironic considering that is the goal of said film.
The comedy sucks. To be fair, I wasn't expecting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but even then the film is not up to standard with a normal film that comes from the MCU.
The staff is very poorly chosen (said Gandalf). The director Cate Shortland is not experienced at all, and neither is the screenwriter the film is based on, Eric Pearson.

I also have to question the very existence of this film! Why are we getting a backstory of a character who is dead? Will she be returning? Is Natasha's sister going to be the next 'Black Widow"?! I don't fucking know.

I'm giving this film a very low 5/10. Even compared to films released in 2021 (i.e. The Tomorrow War) it doesn't look very good. At least The Tomorrow War was somewhat decent (nope, not doing a review on that one).

Feel free to express your opinions as I'd love to hear what you think.

Your typical marvel movie. No substance
I think what marvel brings is unique in the sense that they put 15+ movies together as a whole story. Also they need to live up to an existing massive community of comic book readers, to do it justice for them. Massive pressure their.

That is not easy.

If one look at F&F series and DC, horrible groups. A book series like LOTR even started to struggle, for me, on the Hobbit. Much of the same.

I think one needs to appreciate all these collections, even the ones I just said was horrible, for what they are and what they want to achieve.

My body is now ready for the onslaught...

Agreed! I do love their movies a ton!

I even watched Ant-Man back when it first came out on DVD. In 2014/15. Damn, I loved that movie!

But like I said, to me Black Widow just isn't what I expected. It feels very lazy compared to a normal MCU film, and just not up to standard imo.

Marvel films are always very well tied together (like you said), but this one feels pointless.

Not only did our current time protagonist have nothing to do with the character development of Black Widow, all the events didn't change her in any way! She was already Black Widow, so it's clear this is not an origin story (which a lot of us wanted).

My message was for our friend @Dark_knight .

But what you said was true, there is a lot that you need to go look for in Black Widow to make it relevant. Would like to watch some feedback from ComicsExplained on YouTube.

I loved this movie.

I originally thought it was going to be Natasha's origin story, prior to her joining the Avengers. But it fits in between Cap Civil War and Avengers Infinity War.

We know that Red Guardian and Natasha's "sisters" are all alive. This places a seed that could be used later on in the MCU Phase 4/5

There was also an end credit scene, not sure if you guys picked it up. That is the same lady that recruited the "new" Cap America at the end of Falcon and The Winter Soldier series.

There is a Hawkeye series going to be released soon. I believe its setting up Clints daughter as the new Hawkeye and thus the "New Avengers", and Yelena will be in the series, presumably hunting Clint. Yelena will don the mantle of "Black Widow"

The working theory is that this lady is going to setup the Thunderbolts in the MCU - Red Hulk, Ghost, Baron Zemo, Yelana. All currently in present day MCU.

My favourite part lol, was when Yelena mocks Natasha on her "pose", and then later on does it herself and gags.

I was not excited, based off of the trailer. I enjoyed it some what. Surprised me, in a good way.

I remember. I saw the end credit scene, and the F&WS series.
