Sorry I'm not much help right now, I'll answer your questions when eskom decides to give me my power back.

Eh not too bad lol

A few notes:
  • The stabilizers are absolute hot garbage. If you have ever used Durock/Everglide/JWK/Insert high end alternative stabs here, you will hate these. It feels like Glorious used cement when lubing them because they are SUPER sluggish. I tried to clean and holee mod one and it barely sounds any better. Just yeet them lol.
  • The RGB is pretty nice. The little light bars on the side make the board look really premium.
  • People do not lie when they say this thing is fucking HEAVY. Pretty good build quality overall (besides the fucking stabilizers and the plate being so god damned tight whyglorioushwy)
  • The amount of screws in this thing is absurd lol.
Other than that though, I am enjoying it. I do recommend replacing the plate or filing down the plate/Durock stabs to make them fit.

I feel like the lubing of the stabs are inconsistent, because my stabs are decent (definitely not GOAT though). Still gonna be putting durocks in, but mine don’t feel too bad.

The inconsistencies from board to board is insane on the GMMK Pro. It's not often you get a board with so many differences between models.

I kind of like the stabs on mine, some of the best stock stabs I've seen on a board. But I agree the stock lube job is complete kak. I cleaned mine and it feels much much better. Not GOAT at all, but definitely serviceable. Don't know what they were thinking with their lubing method and choice.

Might plate is also tight af. *smirk*

Stunning! The ID80 v2 and the GMMK Pro are so close to each other, I think anyone would be happy with either. Ice white is definitely silver, no idea why they decided to use the word 'white'.

That brass weight is gorgeous with the white.
Yeah I just think the gmmk pro will sound better. It was a hard trade off

Wow it looks gorgeous! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're finished building it.

Where did you order the ID80 from and how long did shipping take?

It’s so pretty and it’s really heavy which is nice if you aren’t moving around with it. I ordered directly from Idobao on the 27th of April. So a month and a bit. Not sure if it was the quickest way of getting it.

You're lucky... They are all sold out again on ansi layouts again.

Well if you like that exact keyboard, I know what keycaps are being used.

They can be bought from various different international websites but you'll have to check which ones have stock and if you're willing to pay the price for "premium" keycaps.

Thanks for the reply - I checked these out and I am not too big of a fan of the profile on those keycaps. I have been searching however on banggood and ebay and there are a few keycap sets that I like.... problem is matching them to the correct pcb and stabilizers - I am guessing the keycaps should be the last thing I purchase?
Also - Do you know what case/base that is (the one I had posted - looks like alu)

Will gladly oblige my good sir.
Will have a combo of lubed and unlubed for you to test.

BTW, anyone have a access to a 3D printer or cnc so that I could get me a lub station?

Use your tupperware! Lube stations are for filthy casuals.

Most keycaps are compatible with any cherry stem switch (which is the vast majority of switches out there), so if you find keycaps you like then it's a pretty safe bet to buy them.

My suggestion for matching pcb, plate and case would be to buy a kit from the likes of KBDFans or another retailer. @ctrlshiftesc_za has some KBD75 kits as well as some others iirc. You need to decide on what form factor you want to build and look for kits that match that form (e.g. 60%, 65%, 75% etc.)

Anyone have any keycap sets they might want to exchange for some cash monies?
Before i go buy new.

Go. PM. Do it. Buy. EFT the monies. Purchase this.
Ahh Panda, you’re such a good influence. 🤣

Alright so
I managed to file down my GMMK Pro's aluminium plate (using a generic file and my trusty Dremel) to the point where the Durock's now fit.

If anyone else wants to try it: file down the sides of the aluminium plate the stabilizers are supposed to slot in by 2-3mm. I used the Dremel to touch up some rough areas, but it really isn't necessary (especially after you have your switches in and caps on)

No more rattle, wooo!

Oh damn. Well then I’m really glad I jumped on it. I’ve missed out on so many boards already and when I ordered my Idobao I couldn’t much else on the market.

A few words regarding Input Club's Hako True switches.

It's been awhile since I did a proper switch review/overview and shared my thoughts on small plastic buttons. I've been so complacent with what is in my boards, I overlooked some of the switches at my disposal.

About a year ago I was looking for a unique tactile switch. Something possibly overlooked, or something just not that popular. I decided to take a gamble at the unique and wonderful Hako switches. Being the tough boy I pretend to be, I chose Hako True. I got distracted by life, and only put them in a board earlier this week.

Initially looking at the force curves and comments on these switches, on paper it looked like my ideal tactile. Short soft throw, then a roundish bump and a hard progressive bottom out feel. And these delivered just that. My only mistake was underestimating the hard bottom out. These punish your naughty little fingers so much, even your wrists feel it. If you don't lightly caress the tops and stop soon enough, you are greeted with a resistance as solid as concrete. With enough force they will surrender under your weight, but do you really want to do finger handstands? I do not recommend bottoming out on these.

The tactility is very subtle though, but still hard to ignore. Somewhere between a brown and a glorious panda. I enjoy the uniqueness of these switches, although I don't see them becoming my daily. They produce an extremely nice sound, and is an absolute joy to type on. They torture your fingers, while you beg for more. I will have to get used to not bottoming out, and these are the ideal training partner.

TL: DR; Not for the faint of heart, but so so rewarding.
