I've just written a HelloPeter review on this absolute JOKE of a company.

I am in the process of looking for another service provider as these clowns don't have the feintest clue on how to do service delivery.

I agree with you - moving things from A to B is fine most of the time (touch wood) but their admin, billing & customer service is absolutely crap!

My suggestion, PrimeTime Express - they know TCG has serious issues (sure other large players do too) & strive to be the complete opposite. Their prices are quite close to TCG except for TCG winning with their Local Overnight Flyer & Local Sameday Flyer.

Hmm, I see you mentioned dealing with them for over 10 years, that sucks to hear. I've only been doing so for about 3 and only had one hiccup with a multi-package delivery, I don't think they're that bad, you can definitely do faaar worse like RAM constantly losing packages or CourierIT constantly delivering to wrong addresses, but maybe Postnet could be worth it, also had no issues with them.

Funnily enough - all of the major courier companies get called out on HelloPeter & all have crap ratings.

The trust index (whatever the fuck this is) somehow adds to their rank.
 
I used them for a bit then stopped when started messing me around, I currently use internet express, much quicker and cheaper

hehe yeah, I always disregard rating aggregator sites in SA because it's a hub for venting and buying out positive reviews, nearly every company in SA has a very low rating so it's moot to me, some may also take that as they will :p

To put it mildly, I'm fucking livid with them.

They didn't collect another same day delivery today, which I made a promise to my customer would be delivered today. That's just today.

So this afternoon I'm personally driving to the customer to go drop off the package as these clowns can't even do the basics right. Sure, they don't screw up on every package, but the frequency and how bad the screws go when they do is what caused this.

I'm sick of this company, and normally I couldn't be bothered to complain on social media/HelloPeter to bitch and moan about bad service, but they were so shocking I felt it was the only way.

Let's hope the other guys I've approached so far get back to me.
 
I didn't even know hello peter still existed.
It's a reputation blackmail platform from the website side, don't pay and you're company looks crap.

I hear you, the difference between the speed of account suspensions & resolution is completely ridiculous as well as the lack of care or accountability is disgusting.

Agree! I love the drivers and have the drivers and OPs managers on WhatsApp, but their online system, billing and email support is herondeous.

I now use uAfrica.com so that I don't have to deal with their billing team. Through uAfrica, I can choose between Dawn Wing and Courier Guy and Courier IT. So it works great for me.

But I hate it when I need to contact their email support.

MDS Collivery has a nice online portal too but don't use them much.

Yeah few weeks ago they suddenly reallocated credit I paid onto my account to someone else's account and it froze my account due to insufficient funds. Couldn't place orders.

I went livid, and email after email, I want to know how can they just assign credit away without calling me first and resulting in a suspended account. They keep on ignoring that part of my email and don't answer it.

When it gets to Jhb, Dbn, or anywhere else... it goes belly up very quickly
 
TCG in CPT is awesome!
According to hello peter ratings every courier company is garbage. People go there to complain.
Aramex is prob the worse of the worse.
Then again if people write of every courier company due to bad service there will be no one left for them to use.
Never in my life had issues with TCG, had one mix up with a package going to the wrong address once and they sorted that out asap.

If you think TCG is bad, try Aramex, 1.37 avg rating on Hellopeter.
For reference, Evetech is 2.34, TCG is 2.02 and the Post office is 1.52.
 
I've always had really positive experiences with them!
I use them exclusively now.

Second this, TCG cape town branch has been very helpful and often follows up quickly on orders. I think I had an issue only once with a package being left at the depot but at least they're never in a bad mood like the post office staff :p
 
I can't imagine dealing with courier companies on a daily basis. Don't think we okes that only send and receive a package every so often should have any say in which companies are good and which ones are bad. Our experience is a drop in the bucket with what you resellers and shop owners go through on a day to day basis.

Hope you guys find someone more reliable.
 
i use DSV you can even use it afterhours (convenient for me) or on holidays ..Nearest Engen Petrol station usually has their drop off cabinet and boxing is free or included in the price...

i also had a account with them for 6+ years, but since lockdown ended, their billing system and online support gone to crap.. so i closed my account and using @Colonel Sanders now , who books via globeflight.. sometimes they a bit slow collecting but @Colonel Sanders sorts them out in no time and im pretty happy so far..

Unfortunately, Amazon uses them every time for my shipments for some reason, and I was waiting for 8 days after - according to their tracking - it arrived at the Sandton destination facility - note that it took only 4 days from placing the order til it landed in SA. Mailed them, and 2 days later "It's being cleared at customs". 3 days later (yesterday) I finally see a new update, with exactly the same message, so I assume they just re-submitted it for clearance from scratch?

It must be nice to get paid for doing absolutely fuck all. Their clearing agents should get fired - previous order took 16 days just to clear customs.

I had three same day deliveries go out on Monday that were delivered yesterday.

Other horror stories of mine:

First, some important info. Your account is suspended when your balance hits -R 100 (you need to have more than R 100 credit available with them). A negative balance means you have credit, while a positive balance means you need to pay in.

  • Get a statement one evening, balance is -R 171. I still have R 71 to go until they suspend my services. Account is still active at 10:00 but I EFT R 5,000 quickly just to be sure. 13:00 I try to book collections, account suspended. Collections have to be booked by 14:00 or they won't happen the same day, so hop on the phone with them. Each time it's answered I can hear the phone being put down, so I know the call isn't dropping. Repeat for 35 minutes until I get through.
  • Get a statement with a balance of R 3,400. How did it get lower than -R 100?? Check the previous two days, nope - they don't add up to anywhere near R 3,400, so it's not like a lot went out in one go pushing me that far into debt with them. This happens often, although the amount is normally less than R 1,000.
  • 9am. Check the previous night's statement, I'm at R 400. Log in, account not suspended yet. OK, weird. Pay R 2,000, not 30 seconds later ACCOUNT FUCKING SUSPENDED.
  • Last week pay R 2,000 each time I see the dreaded account suspended message. Today, balance is -R 4,182. How did they miss at least three payments?
Guys who use TCG for the odd things they sell probably don't have any issues cause they hardly use them. I have TCG collect from me twice daily. I'm exposed to way more of their kak than most.
 
OH I must tell you the funniest incident.

Order stationary. 200 each of flyers, waybills, windows and tracking stickers.

It comes the next day in a PrimeTime Express flyer bag with an Aramax "Priority" sticker on it.
 
Festive time... They all understaffed . Had to get the business shippers SSU involved to intervene for me on a parcel ... Unnecessary.. But getting angry ain't going to get the parcel moving quicker. Also hello Peter for most is like pissing in the wind. But what do i know right? 😗

oh no... just ordered stuff from amazon... hope it doesn't have a vacation at customs

The incidents I mentioned in my post are the highlights between August and now. Something along the lines of the four points happens on a weekly basis dating back to August. Their billing department is SHIT, that has nothing to do with the time of the year.

I have to contact them to get them to do their job so often that I now get weekly reminder emails from them that I'm not allowed to phone, all comms regarding my account must be via email. IDGAF, they often take up to 24 hours to reply to a mail, sometimes I need to forward my first mail once a day for a day or two before they reply.

If you want I can start telling horror stories from the four years preceding where I dealt with them elsewhere. Parcels getting left behind in plain site. Drivers not showing up until 1.5 hours after closing time. Account taking more than 24 hours to unsuspend. You name it.

They do, however, remain one of the better options scraped from the bottom of a dirty toilet. Aramax, MDS Collivery and CourierIT are far worse.

I'm also pro TCG (CPT) ... Been using them for longer than I care to try to remember, never had any issues at all - VERY seldom had issues once it gets to other regions as well, unless it's funny places...
