So I just can't avoid the itch.
I'm finally ready to upgrade my car.

Car History:

- Bought this 2013 Honda Brio 1.2 Trend 5 Door from Wesbank InspectaCar 2 years ago with 60 000km on it.
- It came with these alloy rims which the original owner fitted from new.
- Also came with a Sony Front-loader CD player with Aux.

Things I have done to it:

- Had a 12V socket fitted so you can charge your phone on the go.
- I had Smash and Grab window tinting done all around.
- Bought a boot cover to hide contents of the boot when peaking through the rear glass window
- Fitted brand new shocks as I felt the factory ones didn't feel stable enough for me

Service History

When purchased, the Owners manual came with the following service interval stamps:
- 15 000km stamp (Hatfield Honda)
- 30 000km stamp (Hatfield Honda)
- 45 000km (no stamp, investigated that the owner had it privately serviced)
- 60 000km (Inspecta Car has this done for me at AutoZone)
- 75 000km (I was supposed to do this but delayed it a little and ended up doing R81 000 at Car Service City)
- 96 000km (The car will be due for its next service in approximately 2000km)

Honesty Section:

- There is a dent on the passenger front door (My neighbour opened her car door onto mine on the very day I got it)
- Back left door has a tiny dimple dent (probably a shopping trolley in a parking lot)
- Front wheel arch (also has a tiny dimple dent (probably a shopping trolley in a parking lot)
- Tyres were replaced by me at about 70 000km, but if you check the photo the tread is still good.
- The beige seats are a terrible colour to keep clean, if you have kids you'll understand, a few dirt stains, needs to be cleaned)
- I did occasionally smoke in the car, but always ashed out the window, since having it properly cleaned, I don't anymore
- Front brakes squeak sometimes, as I had the brake pads changed a while back and I think they used cheap brake pads?

It's an excellent run around car, light on juice, quite zippy to be honest, and handles the road very well.
No oil required between services, and no mechanical problems whatsoever. Super reliable.

Anyone interested, please contact me.

Asking price:
R75 000.

I would like to re-open this thread to ask advice from the forum mods.
On the 15th Jan 2020, I sold my Honda Brio to plummet, and I had a good selling experience to him.
I rated him as an excellent buyer as per the below:

BUT

Since giving him a positive rating, the following comms has happened between us, since I have not been able to get a reply to my phone calls, whatsapps, sms, voice notes, voicemails etc

All I want, and believe I should've received ages ago, is proof that the vehicle has been removed from my name and transferred into his. The deal was concluded that this would happen asap, its now 6 months later and I dont know WhatsApp going on. Apart from lockdown being a valid reason, traffic departments opened beginning of June 2020 and he had 3 months prior to lockdown to sort this out.

What do I do, @plummet this is your opportunity to speak up, and settle things straight please or I will have to chime but to report the car as scrapped unless you can prove the vehicle is now in your name please.

Thank you.

Hey Shahid

How are you?
Did you change cell numbers or something?

I have tried numerous times to reach you on WhatsApp and have tried calling you a few times with no luck.
Please can you get back to me soonest with regards to whether you have had the Honda Brio changed into your name?

I know your son was sick, and you were very busy, but I really need you to finalise this asap please.
I don't want to be in a position where the car has outstanding license disks, or gets fines etc and I cant then renew my vehicles etc because of this.

I know you are a trustworthy guy, but I would appreciate you treating this with urgency now as usually these things are supposed to be done immediately after a vehicle changes hands.
Thanks so much, looking forward to your response, and hey, you still owe me a reciprocal positive rating on Carbonite.

Please return the favour.
Thank you
Dino

Hey dude

How are you?
Im assuming your license disk is now expired and that the car is still not off my name huh?

Please keep me posted as I have not heard from you since March.
I understand that lockdown has been a real problem, but those late fines, and any fines that are due on that car are going to affect me when I ever need to go to the traffic department, so I really need you to give me your word that you will prioritise doing it as soon as traffic departments open again.

Sorry but this is not how I conduct business, and Im a little disappointed you never got back to me.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks man
Dino

PS: Hope the car is treating you well.

Seeing that it's in your name you can go and scrap the vehicle on the system.

I suggest the new owner registers it soon before you do just that.

Thanks, I know I CAN do that, but I dont necessarily WANT to do that as the buyer was a really nice guy and we had a great relationship up to the point where he just ignored me and didn't ever reply to all my points of contact.

So unless the guy gets back to me, on this thread by the end of the week with a confirmation that he will visit the Licensing department before the end of this week, I will be scrapping the car by Month end.

BUT I want to give the guy the opportunity to set the record straight as I am not a mean guy, but Ive had enough now

Sometimes it needs to be done. This happened to me once except the buyer had already resold it without even putting it into his name first. Wasn’t pretty when he had to sort out after a year. My licenses were being withheld because the buyers buyer had put fines in my name onto it.

@mod will have to advise.

But I think you get people that can assist with this type of thing... perhaps arrange for him to pay to have this admin done...

Indeed you do get people who do this sort of thing for a small fee of R250.

I know two places I've used before:

The agreement was that the buyer does this. It's dead easy to do, and all you need is the following:

Roadworthy Certificate
Blue form
Yellow form
New Owners ID
New Owners Proof of Residence
ENatis Certificate of registration
Sellers ID

But I can't do it for the Buyer unless @plummet actually responds and agrees to doing it but like I said he has made no contact since March when he apologized and said he will sort it out ASAP.

He has until month end to do it and then unfortunately for him he will not be able to ever register the car in his name as k will be scrapping it by then.

On the yellow form it states that it is the duty of the seller to hand this form in to ensure that the vehicle is removed from their name. If you have personally been to the traffic department and handed the yellow change of ownership form in then the vehicle is no longer on your name, it is in a pending state to be transferred over to the new owner (The person stated on the yellow form). If you have not personally handed in the yellow form then that's on you but if you have then you really have nothing to worry about.

Also, point 3 on the image below.

Dude I have bought and sold many vehicles and motorbikes privately and the arrangement I've always made is to provide the relevant forms to the buyer and they always get it transferred within 21 days without fail. I supplied all of the correct documentation including the yellow and blue forms and intentionally did not sign the date so as to allow the buyer extra time to get it done within without any problems but I cannot force someone to do it as they're going against what was agreed in the sale agreement.

I will be requesting the @mod to revoke my positive rating and issuing a negative rating instead and will also resupply the yellow form to the traffic department and scrapping the car end of the month

The buyer @plummet had been warned way too many times.

Indeed, we all like to put our trust in someone else to do what needs to be done but there are times where we get burned by doing that. I've been doing 2 yellow forms since the dawn of time, one for me and one for the buyer, I generally hand it in before they do though, also I too have been through the processes, I myself have been burned too. I've personally owned over 50 vehicles so at some point it was bound to happen. For your own safety though, just fill in two forms from this point onwards and keep one for yourself.

I've sold.plenty cars before And have never done that. The inconvenience, time and cost has been on the buyer. Sometimes I include a roadworthy, but it depends what you negotiate when you sell.

Well, now that I've given you the information you need you can only blame yourself should it happen again, but lets hope it never happens again.

It doesn't bother me. The new owner sits with a scrapped car, not me.

There is no blame game.

Guys I hope you can all see that despite being a senior member with nothing but positive ratings his silence on this matter proves his unwillingness to cooperate as I've tagged him numerous times and DM'd him and I know he has been active in this forum since.

I guess theres something I'm still to find out later... hopefully the negative rating will get a reaction

Not sure if you've been following the thread or chat history but considering today was a public holiday and the fact that I explained previously no, because I gave both the blue and yellow forms along with copies of my ID, sale agreement, and enatis documents to the buyer who agreed to hand these in when he transferred it into his name no.

In this week I will be having to refill a copy of the yellow form and hand it in, but I'm tempted to just skip that step and rather have the vehicle scrapped like I also mentioned since I gave the buyer until the end of the week to get in contact with who guaranteed has been reading this thread too since I can see he is always active here and has been tagged in the previous posts.

So have you handed in the yellow form yet?

Just on a side note, you cannot give two negative Itraders for one bad deal.
Since this is technically a bad deal, it might be worth while to open an actual bad deals thread.

I hear you.
I originally had a positive rating for this deal, so I then created a second rating countering the first one.

I then realised that I could edit my first one and asked the @mod to remove the original one.

I'm not to concerned to be honest as until the buyer shows some respect to respond in writing whether public or privately, his dual negative rating doesn't bother me since I found out I cannot hand in a yellow form to deregister the vehicle off my name without applying for a duplicate reissue of the Enatis original so because all of this will cost me money he is actually liable for, I'll wait for him to face his responsibility before deleting the second rating

true, but a bad deals thread would have him banned.
He might care more about that than one negative Itrader, If he doesn't care about being banned, he most likely wouldn't care about fixing your deal.
The accused has one week to respond to a Bad Deals thread to begin the process of resolving the issue. If no attempt is made, the accused will be permanently banned. The exception is where we will suspect a member of scamming others as well, where such an account will be banned permanently and immediately.

How can we suggest a bad deal thread to the moderators?

I think it's a great idea to keep people honest and accountable

Oh wow there's an actual thread already. My apologies I had no idea.

Thank you I will definitely do that.
Cheers

@plummet if you are reading this I'm giving you a heads up before posting this as a bad deal so please bro, get in touch with me, it's not worth getting banned for a silly transfer of ownership

Thanks

Post it here with all the relavant details, just use the rules and template found here

Typically you sell a vehicle to someone who is essentially a complete stranger. I don't trust strangers with driving a vehicle that's still registered in my name so logically I also follow the 2 yellow form rule and go straight to the licensing dept the following day with my copy and get the vehicle off my name.

All headaches prevented instantly and anyway the buyer can only drive the vehicle till the license expires whether it's in their name already or not.

The only person that truly benefits from the previous owner not submitting the yellow form are lazy car flippers and no way will I be facilitating that bs, they can fk right off!

Op I hope you come right, not a pleasant thing to happen.

I am VERY pleased to announce that @plummet reached out to me today, apologised for it taking so long, and send me proof that the change of ownership has now been completed. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank him, and I am very glad on his behalf that I took my time before reporting this as a "bad deal" or going to the police to get the vehicle scrapped.

All is well that ends well.

I will be reversing the negative rating, I hope that's easy to do.
Cheers everyone for your advice, and suggestions, but I am very happy as like I said the guy is a great person, and I was very surprised when I couldn't reach him, but Im proud it has been now been resolved.

Go to his feedback page and click the "report" button (flag icon) next to the itrader you left him, and ask a mod to remove it.
