Anybody tried the checkers gaming monitor ?

Everyone here asking about refresh rate, resolution, panel type over and over xD
Can someone make a nice template we can all quote when anyone asks? xD

So the 24" is a VA and the 27" a TN?

Had higher hopes for the 27" after someone here mentioned no colour shift top to bottom and left to right.

Yes, I said that... and I stand by it.

Does anybody know if they accept returns for broken pixels and such. Or maybe if I get one I should double check with a laptop in the shop

Alright my friends.

I purchased 5 of these monitors today

2x 27"
3x 24"

From the 5 boxes i got, two had issues out the box
  • One 24" had a dead pixel.
  • One 24" had a dead power Brick.
I put the two faulty items (Faulty Monitor + Faulty Power Brick) in one box and went back to the store and got a refund. Decided to take a 27" instead. Insisted on testing it in store, which id did, was happy and left.

So i ended up with 3x 27" and 2x 24". Below i listed the pros and cons for these monitors.

24"
Pros

  • Metal Stand
  • Good build quality
  • 144hz support HDMI and DP
  • Seems like a TN panel
  • seems like 2ms 5ms response time gray to gray
  • Average viewing angles
  • 2m HDMI 2.0 cable included
  • has HDMI, DP, Audio out ports
  • Freesync Support

Cons
  • Color calibration is off. Monitors differed in image colors/quality slightly (Not ideal for multi monitor setups)
  • Oldschool thick ass bezel
  • OSD controls are cheap buttons
  • Cant see the led indicator if the monitor is on or not
  • Questionable Warranty and support
  • Not height adjustable
  • brightness levels are average
  • Power brick is external
  • Monitors don't seem to keep user configurations. As soon as the goes off due to Eskom your settings get shedded as well. I lied
  • HDR on these monitors are a crock of shit. Completely washed out (Never think to use this "feature") I must admit i dont know how to use it.

27"
Pros
  • Metal Stand
  • Metal housing
  • Very Slim bezels
  • Pretty good build quality
  • 144hz support over HDMI and DP
  • Seems like a VA panel
  • seems like 2ms 5ms response time gray to gray
  • Good viewing angles
  • 2m HDMI 2.0 cable included
  • has HDMI, DP, Audio out ports
  • Very attractive
  • Freesync Support / Gsync support with DP cable

Cons
  • Color calibration is off. Monitors differed in image colors/quality slightly (Not ideal for multi monitor setups)
  • OSD control is a cheap flimsy joystick
  • Cant see the led indicator if the monitor is on or not
  • Questionable Warranty and support
  • Not height adjustable
  • brightness levels are below average
  • Power brick is external
  • Monitors don't seem to keep user configurations. As soon as the goes off due to Eskom your settings get shedded as well. I lied

My suggestion is to go for the 27" over the 24" Its just a nicer monitor to look at.

I'm so baffled, I got another one. I wish the stand was painted black like the 27" model. I can confirm Sandton has a few available.

Also why are people re selling them here on Carbonite lol

Some buy it, and don't like it, so end up selling it.
Some hope to make a quick buck.

Bought a 24", needed to be calibrated. So far so good.
Have a red pixel top middle of the screen. Will return the unit for a 27"

Guys, am I the only one thinking this screen, at least the 27" model, is an absolute piece of Chinese k#k?

The colours are terribly faded. HDR looks like an LSD trip. The Ghosting is horrendous.

To add insult to injury, mine has a dead pixel.

The only positive is that it looks nice. It has a very small bevel, and has brushed metal all around.

I see a LOT of people now complaining of dead pixels. My guess is that these were all reject panels used in these casings. Seeing as some users are finding the colours completely different from unit to unit, I may even guess that these are in fact lottery monitors, each from a different brand, each with a unique issue.

I will be doing a refund tomorrow.

How

howd you get to the test menus?

The first time I accessed it by a random fluke while making color adjustments , I guess there a combination on the joystick you use to access it.
The second time was unplugging it from one PC using DP and into a laptop using hdmi and it just loaded into the test menu

I thought so as well , when it was plugged into my 5700xt the colours were absolute horse$..it and completely washed out . Then I plugged it into a laptop with a standard intel hd620 and it looks perfect. Keeping it as an office monitor

I couldn't be happier.
I've been looking for a secondary monitor for work. I've set my 27" up now, messed about with color and settings and I'm set.
For R3000, it's a bargain.

What do equivalent entry level 27" LCD from mainstream brands sell for new?

LoL

isn't this that Gtx Gaming dude from MyBroadband? Thought he had an account here too..

You put freesync under CONS for 24". Was this a mistake? If not please justify

This one is just sad:

Same GTX Gaming dude, trying to flip a monitor from Checkers...

Heard someone bought 9 monitors all in one go somewhere in CPT. Might be this guy.

Bold strategy.
