Red Dead 2 Now Available!

As in port the game from console to PC. I've played too many games where this not being done properly breaks the game.

A I see yea but the trailer graphics looked amazing and they had more then a year to upgrade the game from console to pc

Recently bought and downloaded RDR2 on PC.

It's borked. Opens, closes and gives me the "Red Dead Redemption 2 closed unexpectedly" issue which is fairly common.

Things I've tried:
Making RDR2.exe, Launcher.exe and Launcherpatcher.exe run as Admin.
Disabling Full Screen optimization.
Making an exception in Windows Defender for RDR2.exe
Disabling Windows Defender
Updating all drivers
Verifying Files
Moving the game to my SSD and reverifying files
Deleting the Profile from Rockstar Launcher and logging in again to recreate the files
Deleting the files in the Documents/Rockstar Games/Settings folder (excluding system.xml)

Things I haven't tried:
Praying to baby Jesus
Exorcism
Buying a new PC
Buying a console
Selling my dog
Anal sex

Any suggestions? Anyone else resolved this issue?

Get your money back and wait till its fixed. I bought a game for my SO Christmas. I even upgraded her rig and the thing still wouldn't work. So I refunded. Why hope for a solution when none is available at the moment.

Seen quite a few people have this issue and simply reconnecting your controller (if using one) , after the game loads to the main menu solved it for them. I was one of the lucky few that the game just seems to run for. Most negative steam reviews Ive seen is due to failure to launch/crashes.

I don't have a controller, just KB/Mouse. I got it to launch once and sat in the menu. Plugged in my headphones and it crashed.

Are you running an overclock ?

Do you have an extra drive where you can do a clean windows install and then only install drivers required to run the game?
At least this way you know if it's the game not liking your hardware setup

I could possibly make that happen.

I've now gotten it to launch twice. It's set to use the Vulkan API, though I have an nVidia GPU so perhaps that's an issue. I changed some settings to lower the quality somewhat, but now it won't launch again. Currently re-verifying files and will try again.

The way i fixed mine was purely keeping it on vulcan support even though i have a 1080ti,

Some wierd setting that kept crashing when i had it on Nvidea.
Maybe try that

Problem is the game doesn’t even launch 9/10 times so I can’t change the setting.

I get very rare crashes, say 2 out 10 launches, I dont make any changes to any settings, just restart my pc and then it launches just fine. Running on directx. When it does crash it would be like within a minute into the game

So I was able to play for the first time yesterday, for no apparent reason. Finished Chapter 1, now in Valentine. Seems like fun so far, looks absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to many hours of fun.
