Car starting to moan and groan. What's that sound?

Hmmm ye. Well I should get it back today. When I see him Im going to make sure I have a guarantee and he must sort it out free of charge if it is still leaking after this

By the way, the clutch is squeaking quite a bit after some use, im assuming it will give in one day as well. Can I not grease it or something along those lines to help with the squeak?
When you apply the pedal you hear the squeak or even slightly on the pedal do you hear the squeak?

Would the wrong oil cause a leak?

Thin oil will get thru the piston rings and too thick oil could fail to lubricate engine parts effectively. A friend of mine damaged his Polo by using the wrong oil. Where is the car leaking? It could be he did not tighten the sump plug or oil filter properly.

Edit: Oh, it’s the gearbox that is leaking? Check the inner CV’s.

Hmmm, well when the car has been sitting and is cold there is no squeak on the clutch.

After driving for a few minutes the squeak appears and gets louder and louder to embarrassingly loud :ROFLMAO:

Update: They phoned me this morning saying they are done but they are noticing a small drop of oil off the bottom........

WOW

So they are going to look over it and sort it out

:cautious:

[emoji2357][emoji58] hopefully it's of the old oil leak that they didn't clean properly....

Could be the release bearing possibly but if it is, those guys could've just swapped it out for a new one seeing it was stripped down....

Agreed, once the oil leak is no more, steer clear of them.

Got my car back yesterday. They assured me it wasn't leaking anymore and I'm welcome to bring it back in a week to check if it is still leaking

Oh and they drove 50km out of my petrol.........................................

Car seems to be running smoothly, no weird noises, gears are smooth

Some oil marks on the steering wheel and door :cautious:

So the place is called CapeTown Fitment Centre. It was recommended to me by someone else. Clearly that person that recommended them is an idiot or cant tell when they are being ripped off....

Either that or he had wipers fitted and had a delightful experience .

@Cookie

If your car was moaning and groaning, why not just throw some chocolate at it?
Works on my wife 95% of the time.
But this will only result in the moaning and groaning going quiet for 2min while the chocolate is being consumed ferociously. Once the chocolate is gone, the moaning and groaning reappears.

What do you throw next?

Money?... when that runs out... dignity?

Hmmmm I postponed those options and drank a potion of, "If you pretend its not making a noise, is it really making a noise?" and added a pinch of procrastination.

FIAT UPDATE

Seems like the leak is gone. Hopefully it isn't temporarily gone.

Taking the FIAT to Cantebury Car Services . I have been only hearing good things about them so hopefully they can sort me out.
They do Aircon regass @R450 (The proper regass method of emptying the old gass, pressure testing and filling with new gas)

They have an auto electrician which is why the car is going there.
The back right lights on the car are acting up. Revers light doesn't work (tried replacing bulb and checked fuse). The break light flickers with the indicator and the whole right side is very DIM. Maybe a bad earth or the wiring is crossing somewhere.

Need these items fixed before getting a roadworthy certificate in order to transfer vehicle into my name

OPEL UPDATE
Still moaning and groaning. Sound seems to be softer when driven for a while so Im definitely going to try find time this weekend to replace the oil or I might take it to cantebury and see if they can "hear" what the problem might be

On the fiat, did the reverse light work before they took off the gearbox, if so, they might've plugged the reverse switch back wrong...

Nah, the reverse light on the back left has always worked. Back right hasn't worked since I got it.

A while back the previous owner had an issue with the starter. An auto electrician had a look at it and at the same time he started stripping the whole car trying to get to all the wiring. Pretty sured he F'd something up in the process

Ok, ja have the electrician have a look at it, could be a bad earth as you said, also, check the brake bulb on the side where the indicator flickers when you brake, swap it with the other sides bulb and see if the problem replicates on the other side, check if the bulbs are identical to the side that doesn't give issue, I've seen the wrong type of bulb do that too, could be as simple as a double filament bulb being put in the wrong place where a single is needed, also might be a corroded connection on the cluster that's giving you the issue, just check that beforehand.

Ya pretty sure I cross checked the bulbs when I was replacing the "non working reverse light"
Also the break light on the right side was blown so I replaced that and I wouldve got the spec off of the working bulb.
BUT you could be right, I may have swapped something by mistake while changing the reverse light.

Pretty sure the Break light was a double filament bulb. Will check the owners manual to see what bulb is correct for that socket

They charging R600 for the regass because they had to clean some fitting...............

Also the aircon fan isn't working

:cautious: so over this hunk of junk

EDIT: I see on the invoice the extra R100 was to clean the rear light fitting. They found the ground wire had corroded. Damnit I knew it! haha

[emoji12] nice one, at least it didn't cost you an arm and leg [emoji16]

Yeah and they were a lot more professional about it. Much better vibe from this place.

Taking my opel there next week to check that dodgey sound out

Took the OPEL in this morning for that sound I posted originaly on the thread.

They phoned me to say its the water pump that needs to be replaced. Apparently its leaking water.
R485 pump
R120 coolant
R1500 labour

Total R2400

I haven't filled up water/coolant in ages, haven't noticed any leaks in my parking spot, my car has not gone over the normal temp, not even once. So no overheating issue.

They say the bearing in the PUMP is warn and seaping water

Opel is sorted. Water pump replaced
They also asked if I'd like to replace the timing belt while they have the engine open. Went ahead with that for a few extra hundred bucks

While the fiat was in for electrical issues to be fixed they noticed a small oil leak. I asked them to check so will have to go back to the first shop to cash in that guarantee
