Hey guys

Im looking to get me note 9 glass replaced and not the complete lcd assembly, is there anyone out there who can repair them professionally besides samsung who want to charge me R6200 for the repair.

I have tried intellifix and wefix, but still super costly.

Help would be appreciated

Based in JHB

Thanks

Anyone used CellTech? Saw an ad on Instagram for a Note 8 repair, really reasonable price and they come fetch it for like 200 but just not sure if they're trustworthy.

A little advice.
Whilst your display is cracked, I would avoid using it, as the cracked glass may put pressure on the Amoled and could result in fine hairline marks once the new glass is put on.
This is especially common with curved displays.
You won't see it now, but only after the glass is replaced.
Like an LCD Scar.
It's best to have it repaired asap, or put it away in the cupboard until you do.

If it's your only phone, then just be gentle with your touches and don't put it in tight places, like pockets.

Hope it helps.

Sorry, my friend. I don't know a repair shop for cheap. But I came here to just say fix it as soon as possible because if you use it ignoring its situation it becomes worse. I have personal experience of it.

the problem is the glass(digitizer and the LCD screen is glued together) the same as my note 8 I repaired. It also had what looked just like superficial damage on the glass(digitizer). Then when i eventually got my screen I and removed the broken one, I can tell you there is almost no way of removing a broken or cracked digitizer without the risk of breaking the amoled display. The display panel is extremely thin and cannot bend.

So even if we could do just the digitizer, the risk is still on you if the amoled goes pop during the repair process.

Still R6200 is very steep if you ask me. I'm sure I will be able to do the entire thing for less. Send me your details

What machines, do you use, freezer, laminate, autoclav?
My guys can do a Note 8, but not yet the Note 9
It is possible.

Heat gun, guitar pick, prying tools, screwdriver. and thats it.

go check on ifixit. you dont need anything else to change the screen assembly out as far as I can see

I meant a glass change only. To remove the cracked glass from the LCD and replace that only. Not a complete LCD change.

You cant do it that way. The glue is simply too strong and the screen will crack. Plus then how do you seal it perfectly again?

lets see what pricing i can come up with tomorrow

Can't be done at home, must be done in a lab with the correct machinery and training. YouTube it, then you'll understand what I'm talking about.

A "lab" will also work. People do it in the markets in Shenzhen - Youtube it, then you'll understand what I'm talking about. 🤪

(but they do have the correct equipment, though)

Yeah they are amazing @P1000.

My Lab talk is pretty over the top, LoL But then again so am I.😄

Have you seen that channel on Youtube, "Strangeparts". That's interesting. Scotty goes through the markets of Shenzhen, like you were saying and other worlds markets. Very interesting.

yeah no, the cheapest I can do also on this is R5200.00

Strangely the phone is super similar to my note 8 and I did that repair for R2500 digitizer and screen included.

Wish i could help

A heat gun is risky, You will end up melting the plastic of the phone before melting that glue.
The freeze technique is the best and easiest way to do it.

1) You need a "CELLPHONE FREEZER" which goes down to around -170 degrees. This is the quickest and easiest way but the freezers are very expensive.

2) Dry ice. You can use dry ice but it only reaches a temperature of around -100degrees so it may be a little more difficult and take more time.

Once the screen and glue is frozen, with a bit of work, it comes right off.
Then you just order a glass replacement + uv glue for R200 and apply that.

So cheap and could become a thriving business to be honest.

Vodacom are robbing people..... They take in your cracked screen and take the OLED+Glass off and replace it with a new OLED+Glass and then charge you R6000.....
Then they send your Cracked glass+OLED screen to a factory which separates the glass from OLED with the freeze technique and then they return your OLED back to Vodacom to use on another phone. They recycling and overcharging because they have the monopoly

You can buy the whole screen assembly for less than R3000
