Fuck
I may be a little excited now.

But why no RX8?
And I'm gonna miss the Eclipse, Supra and 3000GT as well. And why does every game get the BRZ over the 86?

And no Stingray when even the damn Belair is represented.

Ok excitement waning again. All seems safe.

Also wondered why no RX8. Perhaps they are saving it for the car pack they plan on releasing. They did say there will be a car pack and a time saver pack down the line as purchasable DLC

I'm not a nfs fan, well not since the rebooted hot pursuit at least, I did enjoy that game. But honestly with the quality of arcade racers out there, forza horizon and dirt for example, the nfs games have seriously not been good at all. Like the series simply cannot compete with something like horizon. Do people really get excited to spend money on another nfs game when horizon and its ridiculous amount of content and lifespan is out there. Just my opinion though

Yeah right. As the article points out, their cars has appeared in street racing games in recent years.

Loved that response from the NFS Twitter account though. Kak funny

The problem with Forza is it's as directionless as it is amazing. Granted the new Horizon improved that quite a bit but it's still there. A gajillion cars but no real reason to use more than 20 of them. To further muddle the lines after tuning them to levels they should have never been able to achieve they all handle more or less the same.

And if you come back to the game all semblance of order has vanished. It's just an endless string of races with no reason to really do anything beyond the weekly challenge.

Forza needs more structure, like grammar Nazi levels nitpicking amounts of structure. And that's where NFS still has a place because it offers you the structure (or used to anyways).

It's a bit like comparing Skyrim to The Witcher 3 or Dragon Age 3.

Fair point, I mean theres a market for everything. I look at it this way, theres times when I want to watch pulp fiction, and then theres times when any skop skiet en donder movie will do it. Same applies to games

But nothing gives you the same enjoyment Dark Souls does am I right :D

There's a German expression that translates to something like "He who has the choice has the pain". And that's Forza's problem. I look at my car list and the cars are all amazing so do I want to use a Vette or an F1? Well obviously the F1 is faster but if I just pump a little more money into the Vette I can turn it into something that keeps a P1 in the rearview. Ok so Vette but Stingray or ZR1? Doesn't matter they both perform the same so all that matters is which interior/exterior I feel like looking at. But then I could just as easily drive a Lambo instead. And in the end I don't feel like doing any of that.

Forza needs to lose tuning, that would make it amazing. And then sort cars into unlock levels. So you can't blitz around in a Vulcan from Day1 but have something to look forward to. And a structure to replay.

Keep tuning like brake bias etc. but no more turning a 1960s car into an AWD with fancy differentials that can keep up with a hypercar.

Haha, just saw the trailer for this game because I didn't bother till I saw a Carbonite thread for this game.

So, they added character customization... is this GTA VI?

The next time they do a new engine it's gonna be amazing, even if it's 5 go-karts going around an oval track.

Frostbite is fast becoming my least favourite engine engine even VS the likes of the brown Ego and the buggy-as-fuck, Gamebryo.

No matter they do to the visuals they end up about as sharp as a Pirate's peg leg. At least when an NFS is made with it. The only time its looked any good is in gamescom footage of Rivals.

Lol that article mentions the game looks pretty but that shot they used in the article has like 5 billion degrees of blur/bokeh/DOF applied to it and still manages to show aliased trees.

Never liked the frostbite engine. And Anthem's developers also said it's hell to work with.

It damn sure was never meant for racing games. It was built specifically for Battlefield. EA wasn't thinking (as usual) when they forced the engine on the rest of their studios.

I havent really been following NFS - last one I played and loved was Carbon.

Is this the modern equivalent of Carbon?

Or is this a multiplayer centric game with a weak single player aspect crow-barred into it?

This one's more like the older titles apparently, less the acting if the Critical Hit article is anything to go by.

Hrmm..... really hoping the singleplayer will be good ....
If the single player is just offline AI races where all you do is drive to a location and start a race then that is really boring.

If there is an actual story line behind it then Im pretty amped.

I'm replaying the original Underground at the moment....NFS needs bottled tracks back. None of this boring open world business where all you do is get chased around by cops. That damn bridge bit where the AI is faster than you unless you keep your NOS just for that, so annoying, so iconic. so fucking good. Remember that damn train on the final few tracks and drags?

The tracks in Underground are so damn good. And they're Iconic...that's what NFS has lost. You can't talk about how this or that circuit is amazing or a pain in the ass anymore. It's just one randomly semi-locked bit of a city VS another now now that's only mildly better or worse than the other bit you just did. Even Underground 2 as good as it is had no iconic circuits, just more or less annoying sections of the map. Same goes for Most Wanted.

And it's that way because it all has to ebb and flow properly for the 99 cop chases you'll be caught in and for it to all feel like a legit city. And because having giant bits of open road to slide around on is what made Hot Pursuit (2010) so good....according to EA (it obviously has nothing to do with you being able to do chain-drift takedowns passing a fucking waterfall).

I've more than had my fill of driving around in an open world to shit at this point of gaming. It's in all games.

Bottled tracks plz, no open world.

Btw do you remember when NOS was actually a strategic element because you only had so much for each race? You had to find the right moment to use it, or hang onto it like a one-time get-out-of jail free card for when you hit that damn truck you couldn't see over the blind rise. Now it's just a button to make world blurry for no reason. So sad.

Those screenshots at the end...there's a fuckton of a fuckton of blur in this one...can't even see the girl on the start line clearly.

Has Bizzare taken over Ghost? Is this Blur 2?

And for someone who can actually play (until he has to elude the cops)
Night time is pretty as fuck.

We both know you’re going to buy it :p

I’m going to buy for sure. It looks fun. That guy can’t drive worth a shit though LOL.

Up in the air at the moment.

Was watching a german vid on the game, super detailed. Apparently at night you get a limit of 3 garage visits a night. (so night time has a limit by amount of damage you take.
Customisation is identical to Payback but will apparently feature far more items. Oh and exhaust tuning.

So yeah not sure. I think it might not be up to a day 1 purchase anyways.
