AMD Ryzen 3000 Announced, pricing and specs.

I want to upgrade in the next few months or so but would you guys suggest i purchase a good X470 board now in case they stop making the boards and only sell the X570? A decent X470 board will set me back less than some of the entry level X570 boards.

That's a fantastic board. I'm looking at the Asus Strix X470-F and I'm planning on getting a ryzen 3600. VRM's on the Strix are good from the research I've done. It was Buildzoid approved[emoji23] If i can stretch my budget the Asrock Taichi would be another board I'd consider.

Nice all this talk of people jumping the Intel ship, think I'll be picking up a 9900k for a bargain price soon ;) AND WHEN I SAY BARGAIN, I MEAN DIRT CHEAP

I am sure the Strix is great. I used the x370 strix when I first got my 2700x and it performed great for overclocking and memory.

From what I've seen so far, there is no reason to get a X570 over X470 board if you do not plan to use a PCIE gen 4 NVME or GPU. The only thing to look out for is older boards with only 16MB BIOS chips. X570 BIOSes are all 32MB, so support for some features/CPUs have to be dropped in order to support Ryzen 3000 CPUs on 16MB BIOSes.

Asus Strix X470-F has a 32MB BIOS FYI

Thank you meneer. I checked the website just to make sure which cpu's were supported.

I think the patches affect all intel CPUs, the one vulnerability though could only be 100% mitigated by disabling hyperthreading altogether.
My 9700k didn't have a performance knock after the patches, only relevant to HT models.

Yeah I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you... Intel has had no reason to show their hand until recently, AMD was just playing catch up. Careful to wake to a sleeping giant. Last time that happened was during the Prescott era and look how great that turned out...

So it seems I have one of the only Ryzen 3000 cpu's in South Africa, except for the one Gouhan had for reviews before. There is actually no ETA on stock for these cpu's but for some odd reason Wootware computers has the Ryzen 5 3600 in stock. So I arranged with Wootware to use part of the money I already paid for the Ryzen 9 3900X for one of these Ryzen 5 3600 cpu's, So I got the chip yesterday and it was a mission just to get it working as I am using a X470mobo.

Well after finally getting the latest bios downloaded, name changed and flashed back it is working. I am shocked at what this processor does running some tests.

Here is a comparison when running Fire Strike between my 2700X 8 core 16 thread and this Ryzen 5 3600 - 6 core 12 thread.

Some Cinebench R15 as well.

This processor will be sold the moment I get my Ryzen 9 3900X.

Oh, and to add to my previous post, the processor at 4.3ghz needed 1.4 vcore. Yes it sound crazy, but the core temps checked with Ryzen Master never exceeded 60C as the processor draw so little power.

Wootware expects stock of the 3700X on Tuesday/Wednesday. I did a 180 on the 9700K and bought a 3700X.

That expected stock is questionable at best. Im honest, if we have stock snytime this month it would be great.

In summary:
If you need PCIE 4.0, then go X570; Else X470, B450 (except for 3900X)

With X570, if you are interested in extreme overclocking then probably need to spend much more on a mobo, otherwise there seems to be very good value in X570 lineup.

Sorry to burst your bubble, a top end x470 is more than capable of handling a 3900x.

Interestingly I have pcie 4.0 on my Asus crosshair vii hero x470 mobo. Yup it is there.

B450 can't handle a 3900X (probably at stock speeds but who knows for how long)

I didn't say anything about X470 and 3900X

Apparently AMD is not very happy with Asus allowing PCIE 4 to work on their mobos.

*certain* B450 boards can’t handle a 3900X. Models like the B450 Tomahawk can handle it really well.

It’s all about the VRM setup. There are even shit X470 boards so don’t generalize.

I was informed they received all the items I ordered, except for one item (not the cpu). So hopefully the you get your 3900X soon.

From whom is that if you dont mind me asking?

I noticed now Wootware has the 3700x and 3600x also listed ss in stock

I'll take that 3600 off your hands when you receive your 3900X ;)
We can discuss as I have someone else also interested. But lets see.

For now . AMD will be disabling it when they update the agesa code.

They claim it creates too much confusion.

Btw. Anyone seen any 3800x review? I want to know how it compared to the 3700x.

For now I will likely go with an 8core cpu for my upgrade. Totally undecided on which mobo as yet. Really like the msi ace but trying to justify the cost.

Wonder how long till the 3900x's land... I need to churn some numbers...
You and me both, I slready fully paid for one, got the shop napping. Sunday price R9199.00 now Monday price R9799.00. But my deal is set on the price. I even offered to pay them the additional R600.00 to make sure I get but they said the price is the price so Im set.
