Please help ,Phanteks Ethoo Evolv Airflow mod

Hey i want to mod my top and front panel full size honeycomb or at least see how it looks before actual mod

Noted well ill wait to see how the first sample will actually look and cost as well

maybe someone should sponsor me their front and top and then we can see something happen :p

OK so i'm reviving this thread.
Got a P600S the other day so now i can send you my panels and we can see what we can do about getting some drawings done as well as mod designs.

Please keep us posted , if this looks solid , I am definitely going to send my panel next.

I actually ended up getting a CNC machine. It's a desktop version with a router though so I don't think it'll be able to do this kind of work, but I'm sure as shit keen to find out :D

Panels might be a bit big for a desktop CNC but lets see what @Off-The-Chart can do and then take it from there.

ok, panels received from Random

need to know: how would a straight panel on front look? out of place?

I actually thought the front is flush with the curve of the sides, but saw it is actually recessed

ok peeps

after some RIGOROUS TESTING...........

just kidding, I literally took few measurements and it comes to the conclusion that you basically can just do cutting in that rectangle areas where nothing obscures from the inside

(yes, we basically already came to that conclusion by looking at other custom panels, but didn't hurt to make double sure)

also sad that trying to make custom panels (still in the same design as the original) is going to be a bit of a pain

not so much getting that bend sorted, but having to get those pins mounted which connect the front panel to the frame will most likely require drilling of holes

I do wanna test something this weekend though and do think it could work, however further implementation of it would require some other tools :(

Hay guys
@SkommelBlommetjie and i have spent some time on the below.

Let us know what you think.

Also, @ENDU1997 might you be able to assist since you have a CNC machine?
I could most likely help. The panels all look like they would fit in our machine without any issues (It only has a working area of 500*400 mm). We have 40 000 rpm and vacuum workholding to play with which would make very quick work of this and give you incredible surfaces finishes that wouldn't require any bead blasting or repainting.

but you can't do Steel right?

and yeah, the panels are about 480*220 for the front

Unfortunately, you are correct in some sense.

We use low quantity ethanol coolant which will very willingly take a spark. If the panels are thin and the cuts are light enough, I should be able to get by without coolant and then it would be doable.

How thick are the steel panels?

ah, didn't remember that part.... it will be 1.6mm mild steel

well, think alu will anyway be chosen for it's weight and the finish you can get on it

for anyone even still following this:

will be heading back to @Random_Sheep and will see how it's final fitment compares and then also will see about getting some milling done
(price to have hexes cut in it was crazy high so hoping milling would be cheaper)

I also want to mod my case but not sure of the cost as yet, don't want to spend too much money on it though, if it ends up costing the same as a new case I would rather just get a new case.

why did you made new panels? (by the look of the pics).

I was thinking of printing the honeycomb design on vinyl and then sticking it on the case for reference to whoever will cut it in the end. But that's all I got, an idea.

Did anyone have success here as yet?

we wanted to:
1) get pricing
2) see how accurate a design we could get to the stock parts
3) help community for any1 maybe wanting to do it but not sure if worth it/cost

as for the printing of the honeycomb, it would be better if you just send them a design file (cause if done by a CNC, will anyway have to make their own design file)

Thanks for the reply man I appreciate it.

I will start looking at other cases then as an option, perhaps something like the Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic... lets see

Thanks for the advice bud.

Jeesh . . im a year late

Have you guys ever had any success with modding the panels of the Evolv?

Got my case only recently and still a bit sentimental before considering EvolvX or something else.

don't think @Random_Sheep ever took it any further and I expected it (although would have been pleasantly surprised) to be quite expensive to have the airflow holes cut into the new panel I had made

would have liked to have seen though how close we got to the original panel design

but think he has since gotten different case

I still have the case and still want to do it as I want to build a centre piece but trying to find someone who 1} has decent machines and 2) is willing to help and not charge a thousand.

Am gonna be on leave for a couple days int the next week so might try find someone in my area.

That would be great. I would be quite keen to see how it comes out.

Will keep an ear on this thread
