Okay so I was listening to 94.2 now .... and a song came on that brought back to many memories.
Now before I say what it is do not judge me!

This is by far one of the catchiest and most recognizable theme songs ever!

Is this for Dawson's Creek?

Oh my sack mate my sister watched this shit! It's not a surprise, but does explain a lot that you know this...

There's nothing more memorable than this, by the way:

As a bit of fun trivia, this series was launched in an era where broadcasters started to cut out theme songs for series, as it took up valuable TV time. However, when this song hit billboards and topped charts, fans loved it so much that it helped curb that cutting of songs, and the tradition has stuck.

80's Series

Dont forget knightrider, highway man , He-man, thundercats.. damn we are old.

Best song ever still is starwars although not a series.

For live action more recent series:
"Wayward Son" by Kansas (released in 1976) used in the series Supernatural (also happens to be one of my favourite long running series)

For what some like @Off-The-Chart would consider 'old' series:
Perfect Strangers (Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now) theme song from 1986

For animation:
The theme song from Duck Tales created by Mark Mueller and first aired on September 1987.

Second place goes to the iconic Flintstones theme song which was actually introduced in s3 e3 (1961) but went on to replace the original one s1 and s2 for syndication. The original 1960 theme was more a tune than an actual song because it had no lyrics.
