So this months blog post is going to be an SEO/Blog one rather than an FAQ.

Need to drive some traffic and counter the effectively negative SEO I posted last month :) You have no idea how many people google "import the thing that we can't ship", fail to notice the article it links to says NO and ask for a quote....

Any particular suggestions on what I should blather on about? You can see the style of articles needed in the blog section, apologies for the formatting, that's still being figured out.
 

While "budget" is a relative term, especially when comparing US and SA tech prices, this is a fantastic summary of very good laptops. Many of which we have brought in previously so feel free to contact for more details.

Over my time on Carb I've found some rather good deals. But quite possibly the most valuable thing I've found is this thread/import service. Makes life so easy and means almost nothing I want is out of reach anymore.

Thanks for another successful delivery buddy :D

(Turns out neither AliExpress seller was misrepresenting and both delivered what they promised so I didn't even need to double up).
 
Have a large shipment coming in but using our own shipping company as we liaise with them. Need a good clearance agent though for when the shipment arrives. Don't know if you can help out with something like that?

We don't offer 3rd party clearing unfortunately.
 
Hi, sorry if this has been asked before but out of curiosity, for items on Amazon.com which do ship to South Africa, how does your pricing compare vs shipping from Amazon directly?

About the same or slightly more expensive. Our value add more than makes up for this however. Customs clearance is faster and we offer the return/replacement service at cost shipping on all our orders, also don't have to worry about importers codes etc(this is going to start happening more often on amazon orders).
 
Mybb would you best place for seoboost, carbonite doesn’t seem to help with seo boost.

I suggest getting your clients to rate your services on google places - works a charm.

Hey Scott, I was wondering, you don't have any actual employees in the US right? Was looking for a way to purchase from Micro Center, but they do in-store sales only, no online store.

That's right, we can only do online orders with delivery unfortunately.

Hey Scott, just wondering about something, you haven't thought about having an option where you have something like a shipping container? Maybe it takes four months to fill up, but cost is calculated differently based on volume in the container. Although I guess the issue with that is potential theft.

Say you're bringing in smaller items, and you ship it the normal way, with you or someone else like Aramex or DHL, it's several hounded rand in shipping costs for something that weighs and takes up almost no space. eg, I buy a CD or Bluray for R300, it costs roughly R150 for shipping costs. Amazon will usually include an import duties deposit on top of that (not sure what for, if it's under R500 duties shouldn't apply), and at the end of the day, you're paying R500+ for a R300 item.

Similarly, I was looking at some Noctua fans. It costs the price of three fans to bring in two. Obviously, everything you import has a cost, but smaller items are really hit harder than larger ones, in my experience. Unless you're bringing in monitors, which in that case, just cry. :p

We have no plans to offer consolidation of small parcels at this stage. Our core value proposition is convenient and fast importing, consolidation would add complexity for the client, and us, as well as slowing parcels down considerably.
 
We will be CLOSED Saturday 15 December through to Tuesday 1 January.

Items ordered from today may only be delivered once we re-open.

I will respond to any import quotes submitted through the website as and when I am able, responses will be delayed however.

Local, freight and export services will NOT be offered during this time.
 
You know you've been dealing with @ScottulusMaximus when items you ordered through him arrive faster than items to be imported by some of the local E-Tailers from most likely the same source.
