i did 2x 100km hiway trips last weekend and the first trip i got 7.5 L/100km and the second trip back i got 6.8 L/100km and thats with mom driving shotgun ( means i drove pretty respectable)

Dude you're in Centurion. Take it to Dastek and get a Unichip fitted. They'll give you your money back if you're not happy in 3 month's time. It's worth ever cent.

By the way - they're the guys who did the world's faster Gallardo a few years back. That one that was on Top Gear and everything. They know their stuff. My dad's previous bakkie (Isuzu) was chipped with them and it made a nice difference. He tuned for more power though, which is what they did, with very similar to original fuel economy. On turbo diesels though they have a lot more to play with - economy being one of it. Do it. That money-back guarantee makes it worth it for sure, I'm considering even taking my CR-V in for one.

Re: have you modded your diesel with a chip?

Now you started getting me to think about getting a chip onto my diesel, would be amazing to do some sort of free flow to allow the 5cyl diesel to come to life properly, as per the previous comment where people would buy 1.0t Ecoboost, just remember, that poor 3cyl engine needs to work hard to keep to highway speeds.

Specs of my car, 2.0 diesel 5cyl
Highway 5.5L/100 Km to about 6.5 where speeds would be on average of 135 as this is my most economical speed
Town driving 6.5 onwards to 8 simply because boost comes in relatively quick from about 2000rpm and keeps on going to the limiter.

Do keep us updated on which route you choose.

I can get 5.3, but I have to drive cautiously at 110km/h with wind in my favour.
+1, you always add at least 2l per 100km on top of their figures

Xcede. Enough said. Hear a lot of good things from BMW owners that go there. My E46 330D was also chipped at Xcede by the previous owner.

My mate owns Xcede performance and did a remap for me after about a month of having it. http://www.xcedeperformance.com/

More responsive, more mid-range torque, more peak power.

    Think at the time i went from 115wkw / 380nm to 135wkw / 450nm. Still a dog, but hey ...
