    1070 Ti or 1080 ?

I'm trying to decide between these two cards...

Limitations: Only EVGA (international warranty) ; < R8k as I still want to buy a 4K TV in Jan/Feb for < R10k ; my friend can only bring 1 card when she comes down after Xmas.

I'v never owned a "top" card like a xx80, always got the top overclocking xx70 {270 ;570 ; 970} so try get it as close to xx80 performance as possible, but for the slight price increase, a 1080 looks very very tempting. Id also much prefer a card with dual BIOS.

    Choices:

EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Video Card

R6470 NO dual bios. Top EVGA 1070Ti that with a mediocure OC can match and ever so slightly exceed a stock 1080's FPS in some titles.

EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB FTW2 GAMING iCX Video Card

R6760 (my current choice based on reviews and OC ability + cooling + noise) dual bios. Top EVGA 1070Ti that with a mediocure OC can match and ever so slightly exceed a stock 1080's FPS in some titles. 2x8pin power

EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Superclocked Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card

R7660 (100Mhz extra on the core) (1.71Ghz Vs 1.61) (cheapest EVGA 1080) NO dual bios, Consumes 180W VS 217-245 on the other cards.

EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW2 Gaming iCX Video Card

    R8266 dual bios. 2x8pin power

    EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 CLASSIFIED GAMING, 08G-P4-6386-KR, 8GB GDDR5X, ACX 3.0 & RGB LED

R8266 dual bios - for ~25% more over my current option 1070Ti ,FTW2 Gaming ICX, but only ~4% over my max budget, this is very tempting. Consumes max power at 245W. 2x8pin power

For 1440, either. The 1070ti is a slap in the face of the 1080 owners and very good.
I'd take whichever was a better deal as both will do 1440P easily.

I like the dual BIOS option but the cooler is the most important part. Stock coolers suck.

Hmmmm, how hard does the cud bite? Will you be upgrading the GPU soonish? If you plan on keeping said GPU for a while, then get a 1080 and OC it If you're gonna upgrade in 1-2 years, then get a 1070 Ti.

I'd go for the EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB FTW2 GAMING iCX Video Card

You could probably overclock the snollies out of the thing and have it beat most 1080's for less capital outlay.

Use the money you saved and upspec your telly when you eventually buy it

Have you considered either a Galax HOF or an MSI version of the 1070ti?

Or how about buying a previously loved card here on Carbonite...

    Re: 1070 Ti or 1080 ?

Jolly - Id like to go 4k sooner then later, hence leaning towards 1080. No, ONLY EVGA as this is imported from the US and they're the only co who supports internationall warranty in your local terratory.

Spidey - with CPU's not very hard. Will def have it for atleast 2years. If not 3-4years before next upgrade.

Phire - Not sure on snollies, but ya it does OC ok, will at the least match a stock 1080, but will have salower RAM, which will show in the mid term esp with 4k. The 1080 I might get for R8250 is > R10k here, maybe even 11k so I can justify spending on the GPU right now. Much harder to import a Tv any way :P

Sal - Nope, I want brand new, and for the price its a steal. I was hoping to bring a few in, but my mates limited with carry on space/weight etc.

Opiate - hahahaha, What 1155 boards? Never heard of them.
