    Motherboard for i5 8600 k

    Hey guys.

I am looking at picking up the new i5 8600 k.

This will be my first time overclocking, there are quite a few z370 boards out but they are pretty pricey. Can i just go with the z370 PC Pro for R 2699 or do i need to spend more and get something better.

Sorry complete noob here with over clocking so any advise would be great.

What functions do you want from the motherboard? What are the reviews on the motherboard? Do you need the extra features of the high end boards?
These are questions you need to ask.

The motherboard all the reviewers seem to be using is the Asrock Z370 Taichi. I'd take a Gigabyte model though just because I want the best Hackintosh compatibility if I so choose to run it (I usually just have the OSX there so if my GF's Macbook Pro goes down, I can get the data back easily.)

Depends on a lot of factors but a good 12 phase board won't hurt. Don't buy ASUS right now, most of them have terrible BIOS and a bunch of issues.

I got a Gigabyte Z370XP SLi for various reasons:
It was R2400 which wasnít bad, it has 6 PCI-E lanes, it has a much better sound card build in, it can do SLi or Xfire if needs be, I can run a Hackintosh and it came with a 3 year warranty.

I got an i3 8100 to start off with. Going to mine with it mostly and game a little.

I still think the Tachi is a much better board but itís a lot more.

RAM is the fucking problem now.

get the asrock z370 pro4, the most solid budget motherboard with great overclocking potential.

My motherboard IMO way inferior to the asrock as I did a build for a friend of mine recently and it just worked out of the box.

If we had access to newegg I would recommend the gigabyte aorus 7 board which was going for a steal but we don't get those prices in SA.

The guy in the video seems super subjective, the dislikes are crushing him lol
