    Re: Nvidia Pascal GP104 (GTX "1080" & GTX "1070") May 6th Launch

Was going to start a thread but this will do.
    1. Power consumption is relatively low, actually much lower than you'd expect. Only 1 PCI-E needed
    2. Performance, hmm... Not being able to say much at present, let's say fast ok. Current Driver still has no Async shader enabled, but still, GPU is fast.
    3. Your distis should be able to place orders by the end of this month, so look for mass availability around mid to late June.
    4. You should have 3 SKUs by the end of next month.
    5. Could tell you more but then I'd be killed and I like being alive. It helps in a great many things.
Everyday I know less and less about more and more.

    Wait and see

People need to spend less time learning and more time thinking
Remove the word "co-incidence" from your vocabulary. Now, re-evaluate the evidence.

Please keep in mind that there are some crazy driver optimizations coming for both Pascal and Maxwell, so dont' dump your 900 series GPU so soon.

I think that's pretty much a given, but I don't think it will be by much. I'd guess around 10-15% with greater differences on factory OC'ed cards.
An overclocked 980Ti probably comes close to a stock 1080 though, and that's enough reason for me to wait a bit longer.

    Haha not this one thanks.
I remember the sound of my wallet crying when I sold my 780Ti for cheap and got the GTX980...
And then sold the GTX980 6 months later for a GTX980Ti...

I'll rather skip the interim card and wait for the true Ti Pascal card thanks.
Maybe the GTX1080Ti will even have HBM instead of the rumoured GDDRX5 on the GTX1080.
Plus, DX12 in AAA gaming isn't awe inspiring yet (Rise of the Tomb Raider doesn't show any big improvements in quality in DX12 mode and DX12 mode comes with crap frametimes and Quantum Break is just a terrible all round performer) so I think I can wait a bit longer.
