If you have not already done so take a look at He Is Legend's discography. Few was just released, great southern-infused rock/metal.

Nostalgia is the aim of the game today.
Any decent melodeath bands out there lately?
I know the genre has pretty much been saturated as of late, so please, only bands that stand out from the crowd.

    Currently spinning:

Skeletonwitch vibe. Don't know them, but dig it.

Edit: Album becomes even better towards the end.

Still on the same buzz - melodeath.
I know In Flames are pretty much synonymous to the genre, and quite a joke lately.
However everything up to Reroute to Remain is pure gold.
This album is right at the top for me - not a single bad song.

Edit: Riffage here always makes me a bit...moist

I always liked at the gates, I think they were the first band that had the Swedish death metal guitar (buzz saw) tone, a boss HM2 into a peavey 5150 or peavey bandit 112. carcass is also a fav.

Sorry, I see my reply never posted.

Yeah, At the Gates were great. Slaughter of the Soul is a phenomenal melodeath release. Their latest album - meh.
Carcass is an awesome group. I thought they peaked with their Hearwork/Swansong period, then they dropped Surgical Steel. Perfect comeback album.
I think they are actually tighter without Amott.

    This tune though - fuck:

Totally! Heartwork & swansong is prob the only material from them ever consumed. same with at the gates, never listened to anything after slaughter of the soul.
Oh man hahaha that tune was sick! amazing guitar work and melodies!

Yeah, I just liked slaughter of the soul so much, was very exited about their new album only to be disappointed by it.
Carcass is another issue though. Surgical steel to me is the best death metal album released in the last decade.
On that note - obituary's last album was also great. Also read the other day that possessed will be doing another album soon!
