What's the name, by your behavior just want to avoid you.

JK man but seriously coming out swinging for the people you'd want to cater to seems weird.

Where man, where? can't just leave us like this without the details.
KZN townships in the giants castle area. Open to the public for a fee actually.
Fish were on like crazy.
1 dry fly all day and some sections were fish caught cast for cast.
Couldn't have had a better introduction to river fishing.

Anyone here able to tell me where the best and safest spots are to fish around east london. I know the surrounding areas (1h+ drive) but never actually tried in el itself 😅

Wanting to find spots where a quick morning or afternoon throw can be done without being required to travel out of town 🎣

When I was working out that side used to fish down at Wimpy & at opposite end across from Spar. Walking distance from Regent/ICC Hotel. Mostly shad/elf & kob. Catch & release of course, stayed in hotel.

Will def give that spot a try

I grew up in East London but in my younger days I was a surfer and not a fisherman. Now that I am into fishing I have been trying to get some good cachces when ever we visit family in East London. We stay in Gonubie when there, which was also my hometown when I was surfing a lot, although I did often go to Nahoon, Bonza Bay and sometimes Easterns for a surf. I also surfed a lot at Yellows/Kwelera.

I have come to the conclusion that the Gonubie area is crap for fishing! There is just no ways you can fish that area as much as I have the last few visits there without any decent catch. From the tidal pool to black rock and further, always turn up empty. Having read a lot of fishing books on spots in this area it also appears as if the authors concur with this. Rather look at going out of town towards places like Yellows, Cintsa, Cefani, etc

With that said, I have not tried these spots. One of my mates says he gets some catches of Elf sometimes at Bonza Bay but I would not recommend you go alone in this area. Especially if you walk from Bonza Bay side towards Gonubie direction.

Speaking of books. If any salt water fisherman ever see's this book I suggest you pick it up. Of all the guides and books I have read this one is the one I keep going back to the most. I would go so far as to call it the THE BOOK of Salt Water Fishing in South Africa.

Funny enough ive seen some guys pull monsters out of gonubie but as you say ive seen guys on the rocka there for hours pulling out bait and nothing more, over fishing due to how easily accessibleit is i think could be the reason its so dead at times. The river though I see is still a decent spot for light tackle fun if you catch it just right between the tides and rainfall.

Bonzas is basically off limits unless you're in a large group due to how dangerous its become unfortunately 🤦‍♂️ never fished it myself but always had guys say its the better area to fish between Nahoon river and up to the left

I always spent "couple" of mins at Bilimorias in Vincent. Met some characters there, but you'll hear where the fish is coming out.
Still see some guys catching out in Kwelera & Chintsa out on Facebook.
Will probably come out that way if guys plan a Hole In The Walll trip this year.
Check out a few of Nickie Louwrens books, learnt a lot from them.
