Good day all,

-----
TL;DR:
Is it dead, or can I fix it, how can I tell the difference?

A Call for Aid from a turbo-nerd more qualified than I.

How would I determine the exact nature of a fault on the abovementioned card without having to trust a repairman with questionable motives?

Could a multimeter be used to extract any useful info a card that suddenly just stopped running on bootup or is that an instant death diagnosis? Could it just be a short on a fan, or some non-critical component, that can be fixed?

I Love this card and would love to keep using it for gaming on my guest PC, if there is any chance of fixing it...

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're my only hope.

how old is it? still under warranty? probably not right?

well it could be anything really... here's an example of a guy diagnosing one and it turns out the GPU chip died (which is a very expensive fix):

but it could also be something as stupid as a blown resistor which would cost like a few bucks. there's probably 20+ videos on YT of people fixing 1080TIs with a myriad of different problems. my personal 'trick' is just to have household insurance and then do a claim for the card on my insurance and get a new one.
