I got a kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 V4.31) second hand for £90 and its fantastic. The guy sold it because it didn't fit in his ITX build.

Default timings: 16-18-18-36. Easily set to 14-14-14-28 but the key is the dual rank. It's really hard to find dual rank RAM these days.

I had a single rank kit of Micron Rev E. which was fine and could do high speeds but at the cost of timings. I bought a second kit of Micron to get the system to dual rank but it turned out to be Rev. B (not bad but not ideal).

BF2042 sees a marked improvement with the dual rank at tighter timings.

in FPS or just load times?

FPS. BF2042 is very hard on the CPU.

I’m between CPUs at the moment and I’m using my old 3300X.

With stock Rev E., FPS is about 85 but with huge dips in frame rate (could be other factors though adding to the dips). With Samsung B Die, it’s about 10 FPS better with fewer dips.

Hardware unboxed did a review and faster RAM does improve performance for lower end CPUs.

I’m getting either a 5800X or 12600K. Haven’t decided which one though.

Very interesting update.

So I got the taste of B Die and I wanted more.

I managed to get hold of two kits of 2 by 8gig 3200CL14-14-14-37.

So I installed the two kits and run them at the above speeds and performance is worse than my dual rank kit. The worst bit is the variation in FPS.

Two kits of RAM: 79 fps, dropping down to 65 fps quite a lot.

Dual rank kit at 14-15-14-21@3200: mostly sits at 93 fps, dropping down to 75 or so.

PC: AMD 3300X, X570 Tomahawk, TX650 psu and 3060 Ti. Medium settings.

Now, I know that I’m heavily CPU bound, that’s obvious since the RAM is helping so much.

I am going to upgrade to a 5800X at some point ( might wait for the new V cache version in Jan, unless I can pick up one second hand for a good price.)

Dual rank kit (2 by 16gig) cost me £90 and the two kits (4 by 8gig) cost me £115.

Just bear in mind, tRAS bottoms out at tRCDRD+tRTP+2 on D4 and tRCDRD+tRTP on D5. 21 is a bit low. If it trains it is likely being auto-corrected.

Found this gem of a video.
