Hi everyone,

I was thinking of possible fun side projects that I could possibly turn into a source of income and wanted to ask, what kind of apps would help you or be possibly big in your day-to-day life. What kind of apps are you surprised someone hasn't made yet or do you think South Africa hasn't have an equivalent of.

I do not understand what incentive exists to provide ideas that will generate income for another.

Did the 2 "possibly"s i used not make it obvious I was more interested in ideas for side projects, than ideas for income? Also I think your train of thought is quite disturbing if you are so against giving people ideas to make money, but to each their own.

I agree with this sentiment, if you can help others make a living or succeed with no detriment to others, then why not? Greed and selfishness are why SA is in such a kak place right now🤷‍♂️

I am firmly in the camp that believes in exchanging value for value to mutual benefit. What is the value being offered here? My feels? I can tell you frankly I get that offer on the daily from beggars on the street and it does not interest me.

Presumably you are in the camp that thinks if the rich would just stop being selfish, and give their fair share to the less fortunate, it would solve the world's ills?

That is a common case study offered by socialist leaning individuals.

Couple of interesting things though if one actually does look at it.

Firstly, their most socialist party is more conservative and capitalist than say the republican party in the US, and we have nothing locally to compare to them in that regard.

Secondly, it is possible in their society because essentially everyone is a contributing member to society and due to their cultural values corruption and waste is low.

Thinking that model extends to other societies with ease is naivete at best.

This way of thinking is in the same category as "Hey bro, I heard you can like make apps. I've got this shit hot idea that I need you to build for me. You can get 10% of the $8b we make, that is a lot of money! But you have to do everything yourself while I get all the money and do some businessy things." Help me, to help me fuck you.

Again just like your assumption about being an asshole, you assume that I think it applies to all situations. It was an example of where high taxation has been beneficial to a society. In fact the countries with the highest happiness index follow this example. I don't see where I said it was a blanket cure for all societies ills.

Inequality will always make people unhappy. Income inequality being chief among them.

But you do you, some how you got touched when I mentioned greed and selfishness.

Seem's I have to reiterate my statement again because reading is difficult it seems. I wanted app ideas for side projects, not directly for money. I highly doubt you have never in your existence asked for an idea or topic from someone else, but I degress.
