Its a permanent install. You will need to solder it. Cleaning will help but it will come back as the potentiometers will eventually wear and break. But those are easy to replace if they don't fix it then the stick itself needs to be replaced

Yeah replacing stick is best bet

If you don't come right. I can take a look. I do microsoldering.

These are only temporary fixes. You always start with replacing the potentiometers depending on the drift if that fails then just replace the stick

You can test it with a DS, DS lite, GBA or GBA SP - if you have those around then you can check. Usually they need some solder top ups on joints as they corrode over time so best to get testing
